I'm expecting a 4.7" screen, A8 processor, camera improvements (maybe built in OIS?), a sapphire glass display, better battery life, and of course iOS 8.

I also hope (but don't expect) 32gb to replace 16gb as the base iPhone model.

Larger screen but not much more of a software upgrade.

It'd be nice to see them open up the fingerprint password API a bit, or even if its not open, at least setup an OS X keychain like system for password management. This is going to be their 4th year with Siri now? I really think they need to allow Siri to do more like turn off wifi, bluetooth, etc. Maybe always on listening will be a thing too?

What I want from the iphone 6 is first an foremost notification leds. While not essential, it would be very, very nice indeed. I also want better word prediction with swype functionality built in - not a separate app download. It must be on par or better with swiftkey on Android.

Obviously a bigger screen, which is not just something that would be nice to have, but an absolute must. I wont even look at iPhone 6 if they will not enlarge it.

Also, don't know if it's just me, but in-call quality has deteriorated from 4s to 5 and 5s. It's just not loud enough! Seriously, I have good hearing, but the phone is not loud enough in calls!

I also want a better, speaker as in HTC One. (Not gonna happen, but I can dream...)

Finally, further improvement to camera would be nice. Oh, and expandable storage? (not gonna happen, I know.)

If they really are moving to at least a 4.7" screen they are going to have to seriously reduce the bezel. They've always had huge bezels which makes the phone much larger for its size.

I think that the iphone 6 should come with a big screen minimum 5 inches having a curved display, having an octacore processor, and camera of good quality. These three things are essential.

No way its an Octocore. Would be a huge shock.

I expect a dual core that beats the better Core 2 Duos and a GPU equal to a 360.

Definitely just a super fast dual-core. I think Apple has more than proven they can make a dual core chip that runs with Qualcomm's quad-core SoC's just fine.

If Apple makes an A7 variant that just matches the Core 2 Duo it'd be a sizeable buff for the iPhone6.

The current A7 matches the C2D in SOME things (and since it's 7 years later, it's not surprising it can do it in a tigher power envelope) but is still deficient in other areas.

Matching or even exceeding the 360 GPU seems likely though.

I expect the 6 to have a higher-clocked dual-core Cyclone with a better GPU. Even if they get 20nm going, I doubt full quad is on the menu until the iPad Pro or whatever.

I expect it to have bigger screen. If not, they're probably going to slide further in market share.

I just want it to have a 4.7" 1080p display, a brighter lens (at least f/1.8), sapphire glass like on a Rolex or Omega, and faster charging. Bonus points if they add 4K video recording and substantially improve battery life in real world use (like 15% at least).

I don't expect anything like a repeat of the 64-bit miracle; they've played that card and its android's turn to use it to gain back ground.

A problem with the notion that apple can and will use the larger battery of a larger phone to power-up it's CPU is that they haven't done this with the recent ipad models either.

If the iP6 has a non full-HD screen I'm going to be disappointed. +/- 900p wouldn't be bad; maybe preferable from a battery life point of view. But they'd be the first to use that res.

I kinda expect apple to be like a fish on land on a 4.7inch screen; lots of scaling issues, etc. Probably too large scaling by default for my tastes and unlike on android, impossible to fix.

I'm basically ok with the current size of the 5S. I don't want a ginormous phone but still want everything under the hood to be refreshed. If I can get a bigger screen without much of a size increase then I'm definitely on board. Likely somewhere in the 4.3 - 4.7 range.

I expect a 4.7 inch iPhone to have the same resolution as the iPad 2 or the iPad 4 to get around that.

I just hope Apple shrink the bezels down with the 6.
The huge top and bottom bezels are a big turn-off.

Hopefully more purple lens flaring, scratched aluminum anodized bodies right out of the box, same boring square brick with rounded edges, and maybe new and improved maps that are missing entire countries instead of just cities.

I set my standards high when I see a "polished" product that's overpriced.

I kid. I really do hope Apple will have some sort of innovation - that edges the market - so I can stop making fun of their products. It's getting to be too easy.

neither of those seem like realistic options for a 4.7 inch screen anno 2014; either unimpressively low or battery-killing and redundantly high, not to mention they have the awkward 3:4 aspect ratio. ipad scaling makes no sense on a screen so small, you'd need a magnifying class and a touch-sensitive needle to use it. are you sure you've thought about this at all?

Larger screen (4.5-4.7) , smaller bezels, curved back, NFC, wireless charging.

I'm not buying the 5.5 in Nov/Dec rumor

I think at this point people are expecting a mountain from Apple. Some may see this year as somewhat of a (yet another) turning point, especially because of the perception of their standard 2-year cycle of phones (3G/3GS, 4/4S, 5/5S). This means that if this year it's not wildly amazing, next year will not be much different.

I believe whatever Apple does this year will not satisfy even their most devoted fans, simply because of extremely heightened expectations. However, I also believe that they will come up with something pretty exciting. As an observer, I'm looking forward to see what they are able to come up with. I did say previously that after Steve Jobs' death there's nowhere for Apple to go but down, and this is a chance for them to prove me wrong.

I've been saying this for a couple of years, but I honestly don't care as much about the new hardware as I do the software. I'm more anxious to see what iOS 8 brings as opposed to what the iPhone 6 brings.
