What's the name of that movie set in Alaska? About a group of vamp wipeout the whole town because there are no day light for a month.
I enjoyed that one a lot.
I liked the movie and it has not aged well but it is still my favorite.
Anne Rice famously derided the casting choice of Tom Cruise. She did a major about-face after seeing it, however.Interview with a vampire was, in my mind, the best. It was a VERY unique way of portraying the subject matter. Anne Rice, who wrote the book, (which I read long before the movie came out), ALSO did the screen play. She also lived in New Orleans, the perfect setting. Oddly, Anne, under a different name started out writing porno. With a cast of Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Christian Slater, Kirsten Dunst, Antonio Banderas, what could go wrong?
The great Christopher Lee did a FEW, vampire movies also, lol.
How do you feel about the sequel "Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust"? I like that one as well and the epilogue to that movie is "teh feels"
.....
Near Dark directed by Kathryn Bigelow is definitely one of my all time favorites even though it doe have flaws, there are still things to like. IMO, the the main weak point is the very end, but otherwise it is very entertaining with a take on the genre that hasn't often been used.
It as a couple of actors from Aliens and Bill Paxton's performance as Severin is riotously unhinged at times. In this one the vampires (a word never mentioned in the movie that I recall) aren't cultured wealthy and hiding in plain site they're a roving band of southern culture on the skids drifting homeless gang taking unsuspecting victims in remote small towns as they drive around in beat up motorhomes and vans.
The cinematography was excellent and Kathryn Bigelow was a good director from the start even if the script could have used a bit more work.

I've acctully never seen Lost Boys. I need to see it. LOL
I think it's a tie between Blade and The Lost Boys. Just depends on what kind of mood you're in. From Dusk Till Dawn gets notably worse after the vampire stuff starts, but I'll watch anything where Quentin Tarantino gets hurt a lot.
