I see...so one hick store that nobody's heard of did something a long time ago, and therefore it set the standard of how everyone should eat barbeque. Gotcha.
that place is widely regarded as having the best barbecue in texas. rather than being a place nobody's heard of, it is the benchmark. between that and smitty's you're basically in texas barbecue mecca and neither serves sauce.
i never said it is the standard of how everyone should eat barbecue. rather, it was a credible and factual retort to your disbelief that there are places in texas that do not sauce their 'cue. so far you've provided nothing but ignorance and sarcasm.
there is a snob for everythingI can't believe there are BBQ sauce snobs. For a second I thought I was reading a beer thread.
It's BBQ...it is inclusive of everyone....all encompassing, regardless of personal tastes.
BBQ is the great uniter.
you could just admit that you were wrong in your disbelief.Oh yeah, I forgot, this is where you're supposed to the nerdy wall of text with endless quotes from Wikipedia and other links I Google, and then lace them with some smart ass quips about how you don't know as much as you think you do.
I don't have that kind of conviction, so you win. I will not eat my barbeque with sauce anymore, even though I really enjoy it, because I want to be sure I do it the "right" way.

You should head down this way and taste their brisket. It's the best around, IMO.
As they say "you can smell our pits for miles!" ^_^
