My favorite book is almost always the one I just read...

(I do a lot of reading)

I just read "My life in advertising" by Claude C. Hopkins. I'll tell you what -- it was inspiring. This guy was born in 1866 and practically invented half of the advertising techniques we see now. His primary message: Care about your audience...treat them with humility and love.

I also love the book "Bel Canto" by Ann Patchet. It is one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking stories I have ever read.

What's your favorite book? Read any good ones lately?

"Interview with the Vampire" - Anne Rice. Pretty well written, and becomes 10x cooler after having watched the movie.

I've gotta say Don Quixote is probably the book I enjoyed reading the most, although I don't read much fiction.

Sahara by Clive Cussler..ever since i read that book, I've done my best to read all of his other fiction novels, including spin offs... Movie was eh

followed by
Battle Royale.
I saw the move of Battle Royale first, and thought it was pretty bad ass, read the book, and the book was amazing... and it was a damn good adaptation.

Checked out the new series yet? I'm curious how it is compared to the first and second chronicles.

I'd have to say either The Anubis Gates by Tim Powers, Revelation Space by Alastair Reynolds, or Rogue Warrior by Richard Marcinko.

To the OP: The fact that Hopkins invented half the crap I have to put up with on a constant basis makes me want to beat him with a tire iron. Adverts are such a waste of modern life.

How could you POSSIBLY consider that favorite book?! It was the biggest case of literary blue-balls I've ever had! I got to the ends, and there was no payoff! Zip, zero! Louis has a whole load of nothing as his motivation for the recitation of his life's story by the time the end has rolled around. Really, that's what pisses me off the most about that book. It was an interesting story, sure, but had no motive behind it, at all.

I can't pick one.

Like you said, it always seems to be the last one I just finished

Some of my favorites off the top of my head are Sphere, read that when I was 15 or so and thats the book that really got me into reading for enjoyment.

The Stand, by Stephen King is another great story, the ending was a little weak but it was just such a good story overall.
