I can't believe no one has mentioned my fav game of all time, which is ... (drum roll please!)

Star Control 2

That was one of the few games that had me absolutely addicted to finishing it. What a great game, and one with a story to go along with!

Anyone else like this one?

I'd have to say the first game that i actually bought, Pirates! for the Apple IIc (Acutally, I had a Franklin Ace 500, a IIc clone). To this day i don't think I've played any game more than that one. And most of the SSI rpg/strategy games for the Apple, Roadwar 2000 and Wizard's Crown are a few that I played more than once. Now that I think about it, I think that Pirates! is the only game I bought for my Franklin! Ahh, the good ol' days of 2400 baud modems and BBS's...

Secret of Mana for me. Great fun especially with 3 of your friends playing! Most of the Square games for the SNES console were pretty good. The quality of square games seemed to have dropped off when they went over to Sony (besides FFT).

BTW, for you Final Fantasy III/VIj fans, check out this mp3 remix. (Try in about 5 hours)

BG2, Home World, and the original Mech Warrior get worthy mentions.

Hrmm...Final Fantasy 1 (NES) or 2 would most likely win the crown of my favorite game. I've gone through FF1 more times than I can even remember, and though I think I only beat the second installment in the series twice...it was still damn good. I'll never forget the, "WOW!" I shouted when I entered the first fight scene and saw the world spin and zoom like never before.

Ahh, memories.

Oh, and Super Mario Kart would also be up there somewhere.

SNES (Japanese): Final Fantasy V

Nintendo 64: Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask

Sega Saturn: NiGHTS

Dreamcast: Grandia II or Skies of Arcadia

Playstation: All games suck, but Brave Fencer Musashiden was probably my favorite.

Favorite game of all time: Zelda - A Link to the Past for SNES - that games ruled. I beat it like 5 times and if I had time, I'd do it again. 2nd choice for SNES would be the all original Mario game.

NES - hard to choose - I like them best to worst in this order - Super Mario Bro's 3, Contra 2, Contra 1, Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Metroid, those Ninja Gaiden games (forget the names exactly now...it was SOOOO long ago, I'm only 18 and it must've been 6 or 7 years ago). There are so many games for NES that I loved so much, just thinking about them makes me want to go out and buy an NES all over again.

Game boy - Tetries, Zelda, Mario, Skate or Die - of course, those are like the only games I ever played, but they were so addictive and I loved them.

N64 - Zelda, and the original Mario

PC - Diablo 1, Diablo 2, AOE 2 - Age of Kings (AOK), AOE 1, Heroes of Might and Magic (they just kept getting better and better, bigger and bigger, newest to oldest, best to not so best), Warcraft 2, Starcraft, Red Alert 2. I like NFS4 too, it just depends on my mood. Same with Quake 3 and Half-Life.

Sega Genesis - Kid Ikarus, Sonic the Hedgehog (I loved ALL of them, classics)

I LOVE CLASSICS!

Wow! Tons of NES. I didn't think so many people here were that old! Goonies

kamiam, I remember the Odyssey. Never bought one, but I definitely remember the commercial with Leonard Nimoy.
Not that this is a good thing, but I am old enough to have had Atari Home Pong, not 2600, just Pong. It had 2 controller jacks for 2 double controllers (4 playa's).

I upgraded to 2600 (actually the Sears version). How about Adventure? Anyone remember who created that game? There was an easter egg in the game that told you, but it was difficult to find.

Arcade: Donkey Kong, Galaga, Star Castle, Tempest, but my favorite there had to be Crazy Climber.

Wow, so many good picks, and so many more that haven't yet been mentioned! It was a tough pick, but I'd have to say SSI's Pool Of Radiance on the C64 was my all-time favorite-I think the only other game I spent more time on was Elite. Mail Order Monsters is a close second, though.

The original Asteroids in the arcades way back in the early '80s followed by Missle Command shortly thereafter. Defender was another one.

I absolutely RULED at these games. This one arcade gave out 20 free tokens and put your name on the machine whenever you broke the current high score record. I used to just beat my previous record several times a day and collect so many free tokens that I used to sell them for money.

I actually made hundreds of dollars playing games for free during that particular winter. Ahh...the good ole days.

OK, looks like no one has championed what was hands down the best gaming machine relative to its competitors, the Amiga.

The best games, by far relative to anything on its competition. I was running games off of floppies, until later I added an external 40mb hd, that were more playable than many pc games today, and every bit as good-looking.

My favorite, and I don't think there has been a comparable replacement on the pc, was Speedball 2, by the Bitmap Brothers. But I think you would have to include just about any game by the Bitmap Brothers for that platform.

Does anyone else here remember the Amiga, or am I too old?

Weshuang: the Amiga, albeit good, was not that much of an advancement over the C128, just a minor upgrade to GeOS. I cant call a 5th generation computer the greatest of all time, that obviously falls to the vic-20 or C64, since the PET's werent really gaming machines, just CP/M terminals. At the time of the Amiga, Apple had a pretty kickass line of computers too, which I think at least gave the Amiga a run for its money.
