my absolute favorite is 18 year Highland Park single malt scotch on the rocks. second favorite is an extra dry vodka martini made with grey goose vodka and martini rossi dry vermouth. i only like to drink quality (750ml bottle of Highland Park is about $65-70, and grey goose is about $35-40) and my wallet hates me for it.
[edit: ah, i broke open a bottle of grey goose that is straight from the freezer. heaven]
:Q .. and to think I thought a fair sized bottle of 1800 Jose Quervo Tequila was expensive at $25 - damn.
well, Highland Park 18 has been aged for 18 years, so it's gonna be expensive. it's also arguably the best single malt scotch on earth (though there are some islays that are great, Glenfarclas for example. i'm still trying to get my hands on a bottle of Baillie Nicol Jarvie, which is a premium blended islay scotch).
Grey Goose is generally considered the best vodka on earth, so it's gonna be expensive. good lord, Grey Goose is good. it's almost a crime to use it in a martini. really an "on the rocks" vodka. once you drink the really good stuff, it's hard to go back to the stuff you used to think was "good". for instance, after Grey Goose, Skyy seems lacking. i used to love Skyy vodka. now i can't really drink it. i have a bottle of skyy in my freezer, but i really only use it for gimlets. nothing wrong with Jose Quervo, by the way, it's certainly good tequila.
