I am partial to crinkle cut fries myself.

but I won't turn down steak-cut fries.

I used to love the crinkle cut fries from the bowling alley. Don't know why they always tasted better there. I'm sure they were the same food service fries everyone else used. I like McDonalds fries, or for something heavy, western cut fries with hot sauce.

Arby's curly fries = da bomb. They need to put some kind of warning on those fries. So yummy and addictive.

as long as they're non oil logged and crispy - generally any type of fry

the worst part of fries are the fries themselves

fries are just delivery devices for salt and grease

thus the ideal fry maximizes surface area while minimizing volume

so McDonald's fries

for best seasoning, Bojangles

Crinkle cut are the best, especially when they're slightly soggy and have that "dry" taste to them.

Never been a big fan of shoestring, but I love these:

Ugh, shit no man.

Crinkle cut are ok. I'd say Wendy's fries are about as close to my favorite as is possible. The best fries I've had are from a food stand called Norm's Fries that comes around during the U.P. State Fair every year. Wendy's are most similar to them, going by cut and having the skins on.

This man knows what he is talking about.

I want the large surface area/volume ratio to carry large amounts of whatever toppings I am in the mood for, be it salt and grease, spicy aioli, seasonings, or whatever. To make it even better, use sweet potatoes, then the fry part itself is also tasty. Going slightly more cooked (but not burnt) helps greatly to carry the largest amounts of flavor. Limp, undercooked fries just don't dip as well.

This plus horsey sauce = awesome.

One of my favorite is a heavily battered waffle fry that is almost over cooked. Waffle fries *HAVE* to be crispy. I want to like Chic Fil A waffle fries...but they are always too soggy.

I have an irrational hate of crinkle cut fries. It dates back to grade school cafeteria days where they did crinkle cut fries in some giant ass oven. Every now and then you'd get one that wasn't cooked and you'd get a icy/mushy crunch. *shudders*

Chips from the fish n' chips shops in Melbourne. Served in butchers paper with seasoned salt and vinegar. Not any of this fries crap you eat.
