I knew you would rate right up there with the best of the best around here.

Psh, no way Vdub, I don't have an insanely hot model wife with DD sized titties, all while making 6 figures from working at home and occasionally driving my brand new BMW.

I'm merely a little ATOT plebian.

Last time I checked, mine was in the low 800s, 805 IIRC.

As long as you are in the upper 700s, you are golden.

As expected, the poll results confirm that this forum is FULL of perfect creatures!!!

Yep. Only 3 out of 125 voters are below average. A couple around average, and the rest well above average.

But, what do you expect when the average ATOTer is a millionaire.

I don't know, but do they lower your credit score if you:

- forget to pay a credit card on time but they waive the fee as if nothing happened because you have a good long history with them? Fully paid right before asking for the fee waiver.
- open credit cards or bank accounts (all approved)?

1: Depends on if your CC reports you as on time or not. I'd be surprised if they reported you as late assuming you have good history with them but I think they could if they wanted to
2: Credit cards: Yes. It counts as a hard pull so usually a 1-3 point drop from a CC app (doesn't matter if it was approved or not). Bank accounts largely go with a soft pull so opening a new account usually doesn't affect your score unless they do a hard pull

You would have to be 30 days past the due date to take a hit.

1) As stated, depends on if your credit card reported you delinquent, which generally will only happen with zero contact from you for 30 days. If you are going to be late, or can't afford to pay, call them! They will work with you, even if it might cause a temporary freeze in using that particular card.

2) Yes, and no. Applying for any credit will give you a hard inquiry, which does lower you score, however, getting approved will give you another account and possibly increased available credit. That can raise your score.

I went from 848 a month ago to 787 this month (source: Discover FICO), when I decided I wanted to just pay off the balance of my student loans from my savings. I guess the credit agencies want people to be debt slaves.

I wouldn't totally put it past people but lying about your credit score on an anonymous poll seems really, really pointless and petty.

Yeah, I was one of the few people who didn't say that their credit was near perfect.

I had an 820 FICO before my short sale. The second that showed up on my credit report, my score plummeted to an 680. It doesn't take much.

How does that show up on the report? As a repo, I8?

Account closed, paid on time, settled for less than total amount.
:hmm: So I would guess the drop is be because of a decrease in a total credit limit. But the "settled for less" could be the problem. Not sure how to find out.

Best of.

Oh, the account settlement was definitely the credit killer. Thanks to the neighborhood going to hell in the 8 years I've lived here, the condo that I paid $165,000 for sold for just $70,000. I still owed $125,000 on it, giving the bank a $50,000 loss.

Is Discover FICO real ?
I has a credit monitoring for yrs and it was like 768/788/792.
When I finally check my Discover FICO it was like 850.
Seems like they don't use the XXX-850 model.

Mine says they use Transunion, IIRC. It's real.
Your service was likely reporting another agency or averaging agencies or using an alternative metric.
