Regular gas is still $4.49 at the cheaper stations in Aberdeen...$4.99 here in Ocean Shores.

$90 is not filling up a truck. Try $200 with these prices.

As for the whole truck shaming that seems to be going on, some people actually use their truck as a truck. Ever try to put 20 sheets of drywall or a yard of gravel in a Prius or try to go down a questionable bush road in one?

Ok, so I've somewhat done stuff like that when I had a regular car. Who knew you could fit 10+ 8' 2x6's or even 10' unistruts in an Alero. I also went down some pretty rough roads with it. I was also helping my mom with a garden and filled the trunk with rocks. Turns out the bottom is made of particle board.

That's why I ended up getting a truck.

You don't live where people live.

I'm talking to people that live with other people.

YOU actually use your truck for "truck-things" which is perfectly fine.

MOST folks in the US that drive massive, poor handling, gas-guzzling, road-hogging full-sized trucks use them as passenger vehicles exclusively which is just dumb.

Hmm, the IRL version of an e-penis.

Freaking Cali. OTOH, we actually need higher gas taxes in many states to...actually pay for road/bridge infrastructure.

I lived in NorCal for 25 years. Every time the politicians asked the people to pass a new gas tax, they PROMISED,. " This time, the money will go to roads and other critical infrastructure." But of course, within a couple of years, the money got diverted to the general fund for something.

Really? Duh. That's like in NH were the lottery profits go to education. Except the teachers union in NH inquired and found out that it went into the general fund .

Not sure how that makes a difference? There are actually lot of people here too just not as crammed together as big cities. Big city people are often oblivious to the fact that there is more to the world than big cities. It's like the people who think "up north" is Barrie lol.

Today, $3.60 for gallon of regular at Costco. I would be willing to pay $10+ a gallon if that translated to 75% reduction in traffic.

They canceled the gas tax in Connecticut, so the gas station across the street is charging "only" 3.99 a gallon now. You can find it 20 cents a gallon cheap than that if you look, though.

Why do you care? Surely you must be driving a Tesla now. St. Elon will not give you his blessing without it!

I think "up north" is Canada. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a fancy big-city sissy girly boy, not anything like you rugged mountain Canadian moose burly flannel guys.

I paid $5.95 at Costco last Sunday. On Saturday I paid $5.59 at the same Costco. That is a big drop for one week.

Gas at around $1.90/litre here.

Some stations in Ottawa starting to make people prepay for gas since people are gas and dashing a lot more now. Wonder if this will start to become the norm. I imagine there is a trade off as they probably lose out on some in-store sales, but if too many people do steal gas then it ends up costing them more than some lost sales.

It's been prepay only here for a long time, either have to prepay cash inside or use a card before pumping. Anyways, saw gas for $4.10 yesterday in northern IL and $4.79 down in Chicago on Saturday.

I have never seen a post-pay pump in the US. You either go inside and pay the cashier and tell them the pump number, or you use a credit/debit card at the pump to activate it.

Used to be nearly every gas-station in America was "post-pay" and self-serve was virtually non-existent. (I'm 58 and can recall the tail-end of this)

Nowadays however the only way post-pay works is if they know you well and you're filling your tank!

There's only been a few times where I actually prepaid. When covid first started mostly, I figured if I can avoid going in I will. But most of the time I would forget and start pumping before prepaying so end up going in anyway. I tend to just do it that way since I usually pickup a chocolate bar or coffee or something at same time. I'm already spending over $100 so what's another couple bucks on a snack.

Looks like we're getting a small temporary break here.

They had post pay here before the last time prices got pretty high, I think it was like 15 years or so ago though. They've had pre pay with card for longer than that.though and I usually just did that.
