It's at $2.11/litre here right now.

I was hoping this craziness would be temporary and trying to stretch my tank but at this point I've just accepted my fate. 2 dollar gas is probably the new norm now, just like 1 dollar gas was after 9/11. Though with hybrid WFH and what not I have not really had to drive much anyway.

In Tallahassee $4.50 for regular at local stations, $4.29 at Costco, $4.32 at Sam's.

That was May 18. There wasn't much change in prices until yesterday when most of the local stations I saw were $4.79. Costco and Sam's were $4.49.

Everyone in my area is at $4.499 so as to not hit that $4.50 mark, so expecting a jump to $4.70 soon.

We are up to $4.70 for regular in DFW.

I bought a call option on Apache oil. If you can't beat them, join them?

only by bringing back dmcowen674 will we be able to get gas prices under 5$/gal again

I think unless Russia suddenly wakes up and gets the fuck out of Ukraine in a bid to lift sanctions on its oil - the price per barrel could reach $200 eventually.

Oil companies are refusing to "drill baby drill" because so many politicians are trying to mandate EVs in 10 years so it looks like we are in draw down mode for oil. And that means higher and higher prices until it becomes irresistible for suppliers to finally start drilling again despite the EV mandate risks.

Here is VERY good video explaining why we are likely not going to see cheap oil again, maybe ever:

US shale drillers are telling everybody, point blank, they are not going to chase volume anymore. They're paying shareholders and that will continue. Nothing to do with EVs.

The last era of cheap fuel was subsidized by massive investor losses as piles of cash were thrown at drillers to boost output and market share. After enormous losses that's over and probably isn't coming back soon if ever. So any politicians promising cheaper gas if you vote for them should be viewed suspiciously because this is all out of their control.

Demanding cheap gas is also a form of climate change denialism. We can't keep subsidizing people's shitty automobile choices.

expensive gas is definitely making me glad that i didn't go through with getting a subaru that gets around 25-30 mpg

right now my honda gets 35-40 mpg, and my next vehicle will need to get at least that much (ideally 50+ mpg)

My legs get two feet per stride and came with special financing. If gas goes above $10 I will walk!⛽️

As far as EVs....utilities are already warning on energy prices due to skyrocketing natural gas prices.

Apparently we all should have listened to cheez at least on the electric-scooter thing! (prices of e-scooters are jacked through the roof now too)

east TN, I just bought at $4.59, but just down the street the "early raiser" gas station just pushed their price to $4.64, so that's where everyone else will be tomorrow morning

Fortunately I don't need gas at the moment but when I drove by the local Mobil station earlier it was $4.85 for regular ... and this place is fairly cheap for my area despite it being brand-name gas.

Not the highest I've ever seen by any means but pretty dang close.

Last week it was around $4.87, but now I'm seeing $4.99 for regular all over the place. Just filled up on Saturday and I should be good for a few weeks - I've been getting about 40mpg in my non-hybrid/EV car.
