The demand increase from EVs isn't as much as you think. There is a lot of slack in demand at night, the prime time that EVs would be charging - so production can easily be ramped up, and a lot of excess solar production during the day that may not be used up right now. Our power grid isn't at full tilt 24/7.

Don't attempt to use common sense when discussing energy costs...Electrical utilities (for the most part) are no different than the oil companies...they're always looking for a reason to raise rates.

$1.88/litre or so. I'm not sure what type of gallon the US uses as there seems to be different standards but assuming it's 3.8 litres per gallon, that puts us at around $7.5/gallon.
What does lets go brandon mean in your sig?

Let's go Brandon is right wing Trumpie code for Fuck Joe Biden. Because their brains are so immature and infantile they can't just say Fuck Biden and think something a 9 year old would find amusing, like speaking a curse word in code, is actually funny.

They hate rooftop solar panels way more than they hate EV chargers though.

It means he hates Biden

There's more to it, honestly I don't care about Biden but I think he should be in a nursing home not president, for his own health and wellbeing as a human. They need somebody in office actually fit for the job, someone with the same caliber as Obama.

But the greater message behind it that I think most people don't pick up on is that the entire system is just one big lie and manipulation of the people. The origin of how the phrase started is that a crowd was chanting "F Joe Biden" and the reporter, live, where you could clearly hear the crowd, said that the crowd was saying "let's go Brandon". They lied right in the faces of millions of people. The entire government/media system has been doing that to us for years now. It all started with two weeks to flatten the curve.

But I don't want to make this political.... you guys brought it up! lol.

Gas at 188.3/litre here. Seems to have stabilized around that point. Another carbon tax hike coming in April though. I have a feeling we're going to see $2 gas by summer. Some places like BC are already at that point now.

I'm seriously looking more into an EV at this point. Hyundai Ioniq actually looks pretty good. If I pay off the mortgage I can probably actually afford it. The way my company ESP stock account is doing, if I hold for another year I can probably pay the mortgage off next year.

Don't be fooled by his gaffes or his age, Biden is just as qualified as any other snake lawyer who rises to the top(so was Obama). A guy who keeps the populace complacent and questioning while hiding internal discussions and thoughts is something right up the alley for any lawyer. Biden, or any politician aside from the fringe idealists, will never be on the same wavelength as the commoners admiring or loathing him because they are trained professionals in PR.

Origin story:

Maybe she just need to keep the content clean for network TV, but I guess people took it as malevolent media censorship(not entirely unjustified) and "preserved the translation" she made.

They even made a stupid crypto token out of it, the fees of which cost about 20000000x (Yeah, that's 20 million) times more than what each token is currently worth.

The funny thing is Biden is far more rooted in reality than your wackadoo theories and of pretty much all the theories bandied about by the let's go brandon crowd, even though Biden has clearly lost a step, he is still way more with it than your movement. You have the cult leader of the let's go brandon movement calling Putin a genius and then now saying Americans should put Chinese flags on fighter plans, bomb russia and then have china and russia fight it out. If this wasn't all true, it would be great satire. The greatest con in the system are the most powerful capitalist interests working with government to keep nice things from the rest of the people and make as much money off of them as possible at the same time, ethics be damned, not this chip tracking one world government crap you are on. It's corruption and money influence, not deep state conspiracies, that are the main issue.

Noticed today in L.A. County that most stations are charging exactly $6/gal for premium, although I think that's marked up above market rate. Exactly a week ago, I paid $5.20 (before fuel rewards discount). TV news loves to put a reporter in front of any of the usurious gas stations already charging above $7/gal.

Like I said previously, [many] Americans want to stick it to Putin. But I guarantee you the average American doesn't want $5 gas and definitely doesn't want 10% annualized inflation.

$4/gallon around here....up 40 cents since yesterday. Lucky for me, my wife and I both live about 4 miles from work. I feel a little bad for people who drive 30-50 miles to work and back each day.

That may push more employees to embrace remote work after returning to work.

Biden is a career politician with plenty of crappy decisions and things he has supported.

However, if he had the votes right now he'd be signing legislation giving us a Medicare public health insurance option, giving us a higher minimum wage that would affect the commoners the most, letting Medicare negotiate drug prices, give an extra child tax credit to the more 'commoners', increasing taxes on the super wealthy and corporations (not the commoners), paid leave (more for commoners), additional money for things like pell grants (for commoners), and a whole host of other programs dedicated to helping the commoner - all these things were shot down due to the naysayers of Manchin and Synema. All these things (except the public option, which is something he supports though) were in his 3.5 trillion dollar plan that failed because of those two scheisters.

You should really get the correct information first before typing.

The min wage "defeat" was a symoblic one. Since it takes only one or two to kill the law, the other members can be free to not have to take the public humiliation even though their own state's laws are not on such an accelerated timeline. Too much too soon causes harm to the "Main St." sector where they are not as deep-pocketed like Walmart.

Wholesale price of gasoline is up to 3.80 now. With CA' forcing an more expensive blend and the high taxes $7+ seems about right. You'd think it'd be more than that come summer.

Historically I don't think these kinds of price surges have lasted long because it gets more drilling going. This time might be different depending on how long Ukraine holds out.

Years ago, when gas prices spiked (I guess 2000 or so) I made the decision to not be an idiot and pretend that gas prices were going to stay the same price forever and never be impacted by things like inflation to unique events.
In the 2000's I thought gas prices were going to hit $8+ a gallon by 2015 or at the very least we'd start to see what Europe sees.

I have no idea what gas prices are. I no longer look at the price when I fill up the car. Just grab the handle, hit premium and fill up.
(Though I am a dork and now have little book in the glove box where I track maintenance and fill-ups but I do that not because of cost tracking but MPG tracking as that can reveal problems if fuel economy takes a dip) I don't care if it's $1 a gallon or $10 a gallon.
The only reason I don't own an electric or hybrid is because I only buy manual transmission cars. I like driving stick. I get enjoyment out of it and will continue to buy them until they don't make them anymore. Some people demand leather seats? I demand row your own. We don't put a lot of mileage on our cars, I take public transportation for the bulk of my commute and the wife works 5 miles away.

This sucks for a lot of people with short fucking memory spans.
Lets forget about the 20th century...
What about 21st?
Crisis of 2000?
Crisis of 2008?
Crisis of 2011?

How many times is everyone going to shit their pants when prices jump?
