There is no such score for GMAT/SAT. I put it in my first post just to see how many people noticed it. I recently got a job application with an applicant putting something like that for his test score...

Yeah that's what I thought. However, I do know that they just changed the GMAT this year and it includes some new type of question so I wasn't sure.

Yeah, I was mainly asking because there were a few GMAT posts with scores like 755 and 748.

I had Q49/V44 for 760 with a 6.0 AWA. I don't remember the percentiles I got exactly, but it was something like Q-85th/V-97th for 99th overall. I did a physics major so I thought I'd do much better on the math, but yeah, there is a TON of test takers from India and China now who skew the quant curve one way and the verbal the other.

I have no idea how anyone could cheat on that test though. Getting into the testing room, I had to go through more security than at a US airport.

You can't bring the answers in with you; but the CAT doesn't change all of its question pool, particularly on the highest end. This means that if you pay an online group that does this for a living they will share with you the 200 or so questions that are 'top questions' for the year.

Another problem is that the security for other countries isn't as good in the US... mostly because $500 goes a LONG way to changing what the person signing you in 'notices'.

Maybe he averaged the two?

What job do you do that you ask for a GMAT score? I always thought that it was a bit unsavory to put standardized test scores on your resume...

Strategic business development at a multi-national firm. But it's not uncommon at all for firms to ask for your GMAT/SAT scores. Google does it, McKinsey/BCG/Bain all do, I think even Deloitte does it...

Consulting firms definitely like to see GMAT scores, but they're like business schools with regard to them. A great score won't GET you a job, but a bad score will probably keep you out of one.

ACT
First try: 28
Second try: 30

Normally I wouldn't have retaken the ACT, as 28 is decent and would have been fine to get in a decent university. But my ACT score of 30 + a good high school GPA landed me a $5000 scholarship upon graduation.

Just got back from taking the GRE.

Verbal: 600
Math: 690

This was pretty much with no studying. I got notified that I could apply for something about a month ago that needed GRE, but this last month has been hectic. I literally cracked the verbal book open yesterday. What studying I was doing was geared towards math because I hadn't done any since 2001, so I was worried.

Overall disappointed. I know if I had studied I could have done a lot better, particularly on the verbal. Hopefully they are high enough for my purposes.

Only took the ACT of those, and only scored a 27. That's because my reading and english scores were only 23. Did get a 34 on the math piece though.... meh .. that was10+ years ago, I don't know why I remember that, other than I am good at remembering numbers.

Would you say that some of the grade inflation has been caused by people having more time to study for the exam after getting let go from their jobs? I know that a lot of my friends who lost their jobs in the past 2 years and didn't have luck finding a new job ended up dedicating themselves full-time to studying for either professional certification exams (CPA/CFA/etc.) or grad school exams (GRE/GMAT/etc.) and going back to school...
