I think my wife would return the watch and then promptly file for divorce if I bought her a $27,000 watch.

Now if I spent $27,000 on finishing off the basement and putting a hot tub outside...that'd be a different story.

lol same.

wich is what im doing now. my basement is getting done! woot get the kids out of my office! ya!

a friendly reminder that it was few months ago that he threw out previous (current?) gf out of house and didn't let her collect her stuff

Nice additional info. I figured that a relationship would need to be a bit more stable for the multi-thousand dollar gifts to start dropping. But if he can afford to buy someone a 15k watch for shits who am i to say otherwise. I personally wouldn't, but its not my money.

Also, Rolex's look gaudy and scream nouveau riche.

For Solstice + her bday (in feb), I booked a 5 day cruise and 2 nights in New Orleans from late jan into early feb ...

She's never before even seen the Ocean or left the country, so I can't wait to see the look on her face when we see the ship at the port....

Next year ... dunno, hopefully another vacation, but dunno if it'll be a road trip + cruise, or if we may fly someplace instead...

I got off easy this year. Since early Nov, my wife saw two things online that she really wanted. She asked "Can this be part of my XMas present?" SURE! Money's tight this year; she knew that she wasn't going to get two "early" XMas presents and then the normal XMas presents on XMas day. Got her two blouses and wrapped them nicely for her to open on XMas day so she'd actually have a present to open and that was it. Easiest XMas in 5 years.

My goal for next year is to have her pick out all her XMas presents no later than Halloween. And for it to be cheaper than this year. I would like to do away with the husband/wife gift exchange completely. It's wasted money. Besides, we can buy "that really nice shirt" or whatever during the year.

XMas is about presents for children, which we have. Not about adults. I got a few doodads from her and the baby for XMas. Didn't really faze me, to be honest. Bah, humbug. I'm just Mr. Grinch.

We don't exchange gifts, so probably next year we will try to remember that we need to go to the store and buy stuff for dinner or we will be eating shitty food again.

 That's exactly how I feel. We can buy pretty much anything anytime we want. Doesn't have to be Christmas. But Christmas is magical time for the children and we buy gifts to celebrate. My daughter is still young enough and believes in Santa, elf, and the tooth fairy. So I try to do my best Santa impression. Santa gets all the credit and I get the joy of seeing her happy and in awe.

this year, I told my SO that:

-I don't want anything
-I'm not planning on getting him anything
-and if he wants to commemorate the holidays in some fashion, let's go out to an upscale meal and split the bill and that can be our gift to eachother.

we ended up going out to a nice meal (I paid) and driving down to Atlantic City for the night (he drove/paid for gas and got a comp'd room). it worked out about evenly and was an enjoyable evening (not counting the $600 he blew over the course of about an hour).

hopefully we'll be doing something similar next year.

my big concern right now is his birthday in February... he's going to be out of town on his birthday proper, but I'm thinking about cooking some of his favorite foods when he comes back (bbq bacon cheeseburgers, onion rings, mac and cheese, and maybe a cheesecake) and getting him a couple small gifts.

hopefully he follows suit with my own birthday. he makes a shitton more than me (like, almost my salary with an extra 0 at the end) but I'd still feel weird if he went all-out even if he could afford it.

The real question is, "How is babby formed?"

Babby is formed because a man and a woman who are in love decide to create the ultimate sign of their love for each other.

And then the man discovers that he must've been out of his goddamn mind to think such a foolish thing. Then the man discovers that he is trapped forever and this is how he will live out the rest of his days.

This is the whole concept behind the most awesome TV show ever, Married With Children.

Good effort, but the answer I was looking for is:

this year was a Nook. Next year will be an M3.

Wow, that's quite a step up! Do you always up the cost of the XMas gift by 30,000% per year? Would love to see what the XMas Gift of 2014 will be!

I am going to be in for a Rolex...she loves watches and this year's Tag Aquaracer (WAF1414) practically had her crying just got back from getting it sized...

She made her pick, a Lady-Datejust Pearlmaster in white gold.

F' me, it's a $27000 watch. this is the cheapest 'pre-owned' one right now: http://www.pacificbaywatch.com/prod...9+pre+owned&v_traceback=c1225_0450_f1225_0536

My goal? to find him an e-penis that's bigger than yours LOL, why do you set yourself up for ridicule here ?

Sorry, that was another guy, I deleted my post. OP is happily married. It is hard sometimes to differentiate between 2 wannabe biggest a-holes on ATOT.

Well then whatever. OP wants her to wear 15k on her wrist and has the cash to do it...so be it.

Whats with all of the M3 comments?

I'd be gone from the relationship if I felt that way.

It's hardly ridicule, it's fucking funny though to see how jealous people get and attempting to insult me.

The rolex I linked is a very simple watch design. People are speaking of gaudy and all that either did not look or are clueless.

Also it's not like it's her only 'high end' watch. The Hermes Clipper I just found for her from ebay was a $3000 watch she bought 30 years ago. She has a few other $1000-4000ish watches, but never bought a Rolex for her self.

She collects watches.

I open up a topic for conversation and it automatically is assumed I am trying to wave my dick around.
