Depends on your POV. I was thinking more along the lines of 1:1 because I know many cars local to me that are less then even 1:1. :whiste:
look, i don't think anybody is failing to acknowledge the point you're trying to make, and i couldn't agree more that at the end of the day, it doesn't matter what you drive so long as it makes you happy. heck, i had a Toyota Celica that i used to beat on and love for the same reasons you and OILFIELDTRASH speak of (until it threw a rod LOL). but in all fairness, the topic of the thread is "what is your power-to-weight ratio?" not "is your power-to-weight ratio important to you? why or why not?"Since everyone keeps overlooking the obvious, I'll state it again....
All of these numbers that everyone tosses around are pointless in the ultimate scheme of things. For me, who cares if a car can make 1:1 if it can't get me to work? Well, the guy who built it obviously cares hence that's why he built it. All of these threads are just an e-peen contest and those who get worked up about it must be lacking in e-peen.
:thumbsup:Exactly why I love my two different color foxbody mustang. Cost was very low, fun as hell, and it gets washed when it rains. To me that is what a toy should be. Fun with minimal worries and stress. Don't lose one bit of sleep with the amount of money invested.
So, wait... you're saying you know of a car that weighs under 1000lbs and has an engine over 1000hp? Just to toss out a pair of numbers.

as for people getting worked up being an e-peen issue, i disagree. the only bragging rights anyone has in this thread is his or her own power-to-weight ratio (of which only a handful of folks here can even truly brag), and that's not even what folks got "worked up" about. some folks were just responding to (and not necessarily getting worked up about) your statement regarding having not yet seen any "supercar numbers" from posters in this thread, when in fact a handful of them (and i'm not including the bikes) had already posted.
no biggie...nobody is getting bent out of shape over it...we're just agreeing w/ some things, disagreeing w/ others, and expressing our own opinions at the same time. besides, i don't think you truly believe that this thread is just an e-peen contest or you wouldn't have participated yourself. you've got a Camaro with a 6.4:1 weight-to-power ratio based on WHP, which means you must be putting down some real serious power b/c a Camaro is a heavy car, no two ways about it (unless you stripped the interior or something crazy like that). but like the rest of us who make decent power, i have to assume you do it b/c you're an enthusiast first and foremost, and not b/c you're solely obsessed w/ status, or being faster than everyone around you.
Supercar is a term used most often to describe an expensive high end car. It has been defined specifically as "a very expensive, fast or powerful car". Stated in more general terms: "it must be very fast, with sporting handling to match", "it should be sleek and eye-catching" and its price should be "one in a rarefied atmosphere of its own".
Depends on your POV...
6.5
3900 race weight, 600rwhp~
10.52 @ 128.55 in the 1/4.
That is why I dismiss the numbers so readily. Anyone that's remotely into cars will see numbers like mine every day so no, they aren't that big of a deal. My neighbor has three pro bikes and there are a couple of pro mod cars in the neighborhood which readily eclipse the 1:1 lb/hp ratio. To me, those are supercars in both performance and cost so that takes me back to my original point.
I don't see anyone saying how big of a deal such numbers are - but by your own logic, Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren, etc do not make supercars.
gillbot said:With that said, if you want to calculate supercar numbers, do it using $ per HP or something. THAT is where you'll see supercar numbers really stand out.

Bragger, you know we all silently request you be barred from posting here.
Don't know. Don't care. not racing my car.
this absolutely sounds like someone who does care , or at the very least cares he cant really post anything constructive in this thread.
No. I'm lazy and don't feel like google/math. It's close to the Challenger post immediately below your comment, i'm sure of that.
It took more effort to type up the first post in this thread and this reply than it would have to initially answer the question. You most certainly do care or you wouldn't have even opened this thread to begin with.
I have yet to see any super car numbers in here anyway. But FWIW, mine is my Camaro.
