I do perfect work at my job, but I am bored out of my mind and ready to move on to a different product line with different coworkers and customers.

Having made the switch from being a full time System Admin employed as part of an IT staff to a full time, salaried consultant I'm so far enjoying consulting much more.

Office politics at a client job? Ignore them, I'll be somewhere else in a couple weeks. Don't like what I'm doing or where I'm at? Big deal, this job will be done soon enough and on to another or some training.

if another opportunity fell into my lap I'd probably take it, but I'm not actively looking.

the root of my problem is that I don't really enjoy the IT world anymore but don't know what else I'd do with my skillset other than going back to school to become a teacher, but that market is looking pretty grim right now and I suck at public speaking.

I love my current job...I'm not working.

I didn't like working for H&R Block. The corporate culture there was more like working for the McDonalds of taxes...only with steak house prices. I learned a lot, and MAY go back next tax season...depending on what I'm doing then...

The CPA firm where I worked was an odd and unusual place. Small firm with 2 rather odd CPA partners, and a VERY eclectic group of clients. I knew within a month that I didn't want to stay there long term, and when I found out in January that I'd be let go at the end of tax season...I secretly did the happy dance.

The high unemployment rate here makes finding a job a real challenge. Lots of qualified competition for very few openings.

i started a new job 3 months ago.

prior to that i had worked at the same company for 5+ years right out of school, being underpaid for my current experience, doing high level C++ with systems that had been around for 10+ years already, commuted about 50 miles a day, had to be there at 9pm and leave at 5:30pm, and had a micro manager who got on my nerves.

now i'm working a job doing primarily C++ with some XML, SQL, Hibernate, Perl, and some other small things where I'm learning a lot, can take public transportation to/from work, have flex hours, got a clearance, have my health/dental insurance 100% covered by the company, and received a 25% pay raise over my old job.

i'd say i'm extremely happy in my new situation

EDIT:

i don't know if this has anything to do w/my overall happiness of my current job and learning new stuff, but i am also working on iphone development on my own spare time, something i never even considered while working at my old job. never once did i ever think about programming on the side for my own/fun.

I voted miserable. I would be willing to take a small pay cut or work outside my field to get out. Hell, I think I want out of my field anyway. Unfortunately, I can't find anything else.

I'd love to just outright quit but I can't afford to. I need to at least be eligible for unemployment compensation.

Content with current job, selling things that I know their value. Kinda like an ebay seller but with a specific market non-retail.
No BS, nothing is wasted, lots of free time, flexible hours. I try to kill time by posting on ATOT .

Future goal job is lab work, DNA/gel electrophoresis.

Past jobs were in IT; Los angeles county. Hated the jobs and every bit of it. Too much routine.

Not happy at either. I'm doing a casual job more in line with my education, and a fulltime job that is a fairly big step down. The casual is too rush, repititious, and the client-base sucks (ahem, architects). The full-time, well, let's just say that the most work I did today and yesterday, involved me working on a job for my other job for about 5 hours total. Hope I get into graduate school, at least I'll have the illusion of getting somewhere in life.

I voted option 2 (Doing good. Willing to consider better opportunities but happy here). In reality, I'm somewhere in between option 1 and 2. It would take a really outstanding offer somewhere else to get me to switch.

I like what I do and I enjoy the company I work for. Many times I do not enjoy working with my clients...consultants tend to be abused. My company does seem to to make up for it though in pay and opportunities.

At some point I'll want to travel less...when that day comes, I will be looking for other opportunities...but I'm not at that stage yet. We'll see if my wife and I have a child in the next couple of years...when that happens, I'll likely get motivated.

Voted OK (option 3).

I'm good at what I do, but I've flatlined in terms of growth and I'm struggling to find internal opportunities to advance, or even to implement ideas I have for improvements. I'm quite undervalued.

On the plus side, it's a relaxed work environment and I have an excellent boss and coworkers. Most of my qualms are with management.

I recently went through 2 phone interviews and a live interview with another company for a more challenging tech writer position with higher compensation (25% more), but I got turned down just at the end of the process. I would have jumped at an offer if they had made me one. FML.

Really like my job, and the people that I work with, but I don't like the company I work for (we were acquired 2 years ago). Sometimes I want to leave, and totally change careers, but I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up

It's kind of all over the place and depends on my overall mood and other things. Sort of like this, though I do not generally get too overstressed as I'm a prettymellow guy, but in general.
