I'm sure some of you guys have put in some insane WoW, Diablo II or CoD play times. What's the longest single stretch you remember every playing a game without quitting for more than bathroom breaks and snacks? I don't actually know what mine would be but it would probably be some turn based JRPG. Grind, grind, grind. Something in the 7 or 8 hour range probably.

Back when Doom first came out probably 18 hours. It was on my uncles computer, and he went to bed, woke up, went to work and then came home and I was still playing. The only reason I stopped was because he wanted to play. Some lan parties with Quake 2 went around 12+. Nowadays if no one bothers I me can go 4-6, but my eyes aint what they used to be.

I played a MP game of Homm2 on the largest map size with a buddy one weekend many many many years ago, I think we ended up playing for about 2 days with not much in the way of breaks, with sessions going sometimes for 6-8 hours

I would say in the 18 - 20 hour range.

There were weekends around 1997 and 1998 when I started playing quakeworld when I got up saturday morning, and stopped playing when the sun came up sunday morning.

I'm not sure on the length but I'm pretty sure it was Starcraft on the n64 playing co-op with a friend.

At least 18 hour stretches of Ultima Online on weekends. I remember the server downtime was around 4am, and about 30 minutes before downtime, it would announce "The servers will be going down in 30 minutes, nothing will save past this point..." and then the chaos would commence as everyone acted out their blood orgy fantasies with impunity.

13 hours of Tribes. Started playing at about 5PM, got done a little after 6am. The saddest part is it just flew by with drinking ect. Before I knew it, the sun was starting to rise. I dont have the patience to sit at a computer that long anymore. But that was a fun night of gaming

27 hours straight in Everquest. This was when the fabled versions were out of classic mobs, and a bunch of people were camped in lguk, taking turns on the drops. I managed to snag a fabled flowing black silk sash and some other nifties for my main and my wife's character. After that camp session I vowed to never do it again, and when my cleric was in a decent guild they wanted me to start the process for the cleric rez stick - I told them no way when I saw the camp times.

Longest for me was a single Civilization II playthrough. Roughly 16 hours, started at around 8AM and ended around midnight.

All-nighters used to be common for me, starting at 8 or 9 and going to sleep with bleary eyes and a headache when the sun comes up. I used to try and play an entire game of Alpha Centauri in one session; that's a really hard thing to do.

Some memories that stand out:

1) the night I discovered MAME. I was at school and a friend of mine told me you could play all of the classic arcade games for free on your PC. I went straight home after school, found some emulation sites and stayed up all night downloading and playing arcade games. I think I didn't go to sleep until after 10 am. By the end of that session I think I had a few hundred arcade roms on a zip disk.

2) An epic game of Romance of the Three Kingdoms with 7 players that started before noon one day and wasn't completed by the next morning. I don't think that can ever be recreated in my gaming lifetime, having 7 instense competitors all in the same room playing the same strategy game. It was like a game of diplomacy, with people making backroom deals and screwing each other over. iirc it was called a draw.

3) I went to a release day party for Tiger Woods 04 for PS2 that was a marathon. I think the last round of golf was started at 7 am on the Predator, with none of us remaining golfers able to see straight after too many tequila shots. lol I think we all passed out at the same time.

4) When I first installed Asheron's Call at got the updates to load (69 MB took almost 24 hours) I think I played from late afternoon unitl early morning. What a great community; I still miss it.

I dont have the patience or endurance I used to.
Longest ever would have been back in my NES days, probably 8 hours on Final Fantasy.
Anything longer and it was sure to have at least 10 minute break, so it really doesnt count as straight.

Oh, and for those times I did go 8 hours I was usually slack jawed and drooling.
My parents started kicking me out of the house after that.

I hate getting older, my brain says "stay up late and play this" my body says GO TO SLEEP NOW. I can only play a game a few hours at a time before i need a break, but i used to play DAOC for 10+ hours at a time.

About 20 hours of Mass Effect 1 about a year ago.

Don't get to do that now that I'm out of college and in the workforce.
