I have red, ultra-flaky skin past my elbows because of excessive handwashing. I'm addicted to soap.

About the most OCD thing I do, is if I make a list of chores/tasks, and somewhere in the process of doing them, I find another chore that needs to be done, I do it, then add it to the list and check it off.

I used to think it was normal, my wife always thought it was odd, then in one of my psych classes, we had to take the Meyers-Briggs test, and I found out that I'm ISTJ with almost no variations along the way...and that it's a perfectly normal for my type. <phew>

when I exit my vehicle (pick-up truck), and I close the door, I have to pull on the handle to make sure it's locked, even though I know that I just locked it 2 seconds ago. Then I walk over to the passenger side and pull the handle as well.

Also, when I mail a letter, I'll grab an empty envelope from a box of new, fresh envelopes, yet I have to blow the envelope open to confirm that it's empty


please help me

my sense of touch needs to be symetrical.

For instance, if I touch my right cheek, I will do the same to my left cheek otherwise I just feel weird.

If I touch a cold drink with one hand, I have to do it with the other as well.

If I'm walking around, I try to get the same amount of steps on each surface for both legs...for instance, if I start walking on concrete with my left leg, I try to make my right leg the last step before changing surfaces.

I'm not religious about all of these, and if I am paying attention, I won't do it, but I do have a tendancy to keep things even for both sides of my body.

My refridgerator is immaculate. I clean every inch. The though of any kind of grime or nastiness anywhere outside or inside freaks me out. I organize the inside by date and usage for the next day. One strange thing is that I do not like having multiple items that are different brands or shapes/sizes... for example, my salad dressings have to look the same, like all Kraft and the same size.

Also, my glasses... I think I clean them 20 times a day. ANY smudge or speck just sends me through the roof.

:shocked: I used do exactly what you just described. It's like anything you touch always has to be symmetrically touched. That's insane. It doesn't bother me now unless I focus on it.

I would have to say whenever I start a task (especially cleaning something), I cannot under any circumstances just stop in the middle. I have to finish it completely no matter what else is going on around me or what ever else I have to do or wherever I have to be.

I do this too. Sometimes if my room is slightly messy before I need to go somewhere, I'll be compelled to fix it before I can leave the house.

I also orient money in my wallet the same way and unfold any corners that are creased.

If the shower curtain is closed while I'm using the toilet, it creeps me out and I have to open it.

i do...i try to find a page where the the last text on the page has a period so i when i start to read again, i start with a brand new sentence.

I can't stand twisted phone cords. I disconnect them, untangle them, and reconnect them. I don't care where I am - someone else's house, someone else's office, etc.

I periodically repeat this in my head "1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 control OCD". Yes I'm OCD about my OCD it's totally irrational but that's what OCD is all about eh

I check my door locks at home and work 3,5, or 7 times depending on whatever number i like that day. I also check my plug outlets in my room daily (I've had a house fire before so I'm sure that has alot to do with that one.)

I MUST fix other peoples monitors when I see them not using all available screen space.(That one seriously drives me mad) Also, volume on my TV or radio always have to be on an even number.

And just like johnjohn320 above, I have to make sure every drop of urine is out my bladder before I can fall asleep.

lol, no way. there's 7 to my apartment door, 14 in my parents old house, 15 in my parents' new house and in one of my friend's place...

edit: i also like to count the lines in the middle of the road while i'm driving, not totals, just sets of 4

When I'm walking on a sidewalk, I try to step in the center of each square. I'll adjust my pace/step to avoid stepping on lines.
When I clean, I end up spending most time making sure everything is even and as perfect as possible.
I arrange the items in drawers so that they're evenly spaced, properly sized, and flush, even though when I close it, everything is going to move.

i dont like to touch things that are commonly touched in public i.e.

escalator rail
door knobs, especially restroom door knobs
i don't like touching the bars in the bus either

I take words in my head and see if they split up evenly. As in, if they have an even number of letters.

I'll see the word "behavior" and quickly discern that it does, in fact, split in two even parts.

I guess that's the worst.

lol, I do the same with notes, except up here in whale blubber kingdom, we don't have notes smaller than 5. But yea, mine are always sorted by denomination and facing the same way.

I do this one, too. Always have to smooth out any creases and folds. Any ripped or town bills go in the change jar.

I also go through tons of Handy-Wipes making sure my LCDs are clean - if I even think I see something on one of my displays, I clean both of them.
