No surprise that San Francisco and New York are among the most walkable cities. Interestingly enough, L.A. is ranked in the top 10 most walkable cities (out of the top 40 major U.S. cities).

What's your neighborhood's walk score?

Mine is 89/100, not bad... I never get in my car on the weekends so it's pretty accurate.

86, not to bad for where I am. Technically you could walk to nearly anything you needed up here but it would be a pain to do so. I walk to school but anything else I drive.

3 (NJ suburbs / semi-rural)

A 1.5 mile walk would get you to a grocery store, three banks, four fast food restaurants, a saddlery store, a Starbucks, a massage place, a daycare center...

You could walk if you needed to.

Err... should we maybe post the cities with the scores? Seems kind of pointless otherwise.

45% which I can't figure out, the only thing on their list that is even of any distance from me is the Movie Theater which is hardly a living requirement.

95, University City Philadelphia. Which makes sense, because no one has a car...

86, but not sure how it could be much better.

If you look here there is a pathway all around the water, there are parks nearby and everything else you could want:

If it were up to me I would give it around a 94.

Woohooo! My score: 0 I win. zip 14714
That means, when I walk, I see deer, turkeys, squirrels, rabbits. I hear birds whistling, streams flowing. Since half your lifetime is spent around where you live, my spot is peaceful. Who cares if the grocery store is across the street - I pick the groceries up on my way home from work. I generally don't drive on the weekend either, but I frequently go for a walk. At night, most of the time you cannot so much as hear a car, even off in the distance.

So, I lose on being able to walk to the grocery store, liquor store, restaurant, etc. But, the quality of my walks are much nicer.

49, but that's not accurate. There was 1 feature misrepresented, and some of the walkables are dangerous to walk to. I'd give a 25 or so.

LOL. My Seattle walkability is MUCH higher than my California walkability (0), but I walk TONS more in California. It's all rural and pretty and I go wander around there all the time. See Dr. Pizza's post.

Walk Score: 40 out of 100 — Car-Dependent

There is a grocery store and auto shop a 2 minute walk from my apartment, but if I want a 24/7 convenience store or fast food I have to drive. Sucks if I have a craving for some late night junk food .

UC eh? Drexel or UPenn?

Penn, currently 39th and Walnut. Next year moving down to 39th/Baltimore, though... not really looking forward to that, especially if next year is as cold as this one.

68 for me, but I think its BS. Maybe for the fat couch potatoes who refuse to walk more than 100 yards, much less a couple of miles. Wifey and I walk 2-3 miles into downtown all the time.
