The reception/food alone @ $540/table (10 course dinner) + service charge/tax + other misc stuff was $18k total... this is the hugest deal for asian weddings so you gotta do it right... then you got the ceremony location, pictures, video, limo, tuxs, flowers, rings, priest, pianist, etc... (I can go on for days)... I let my wallet loose a long time ago... I stopped trying to penny pinch when I realized it wasn't worth losing hair over. And it's not like we went with the best of everything either. The dude who we bought the rings from said today's weddings average about $40k. Like I said, people know to give cash as gifts... we don't need any blenders, vases, or crystals...

Heh, the way my fiancee is currently planning our wedding....we'll prolly get by with 5K but her father's footing that bill so no biggie to me. Our honeymoon will almost be as much as the wedding. (~5K vs. ~3K)

A new used car, since my previous car was totalled a few weeks ago.

Looking to spend not much more than $3k on a '94-'96 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi, if I can find one at all, that is...

Well...we're getting some really good deals.

$150 for the wedding location (Auburn University chapel)
No DJ at the reception b/c there's no room for him (Most likely location)
Photog...getting an outstanding deal. Getting the pictures done at cost + the price of a hotel room
Buffet style food so not as expensive as a full course sit-down dinner
etc...
