I'm about 6 1/2...started when I finally got a computer that worked with the Interweb.

Went from AOL, to CompuServe (one of those 3-year rebate deals) to Road Runner.

When did Prodigy launch its service? Had that when it was brand new... back in the early 90s, maybe late 80s... teens for me.

Including BBSs and text-based online gaming I'm about 12 ... back in early 90s I used a 2400 baud to download shareware and use email

I got online as far as the internet is concerned a little while after netcom came to my area and my dad signed up for it ... I think 1994 or 1995.

When I was 16 (1996) I bought a super fast 28.8K modem and switched to netwave's dial up

Since then, the internet and I have been inseperable

If you count BBS's, then I would be in my late 15's I think. Go 300 baud modem! You took the phone off the hook and put it on the modem. I miss the good ol days. Admining a Renegade server and ASCII porn

17. I remember snagging a 2400 baud Cardinal modem at a PACS (Phila. Area Computer Society) meet for the then unheard of price of $50! Such a deal!!

I recall sitting on my porch high in the trees watching the green phosphor text stream accross my 14" monitor connected to my 8088 XT (with the fully IBM compatible bios!) from the PACS' BBS. Thrilling!

Before it was even the 'net and was just local dial-up BBS's. If that counts. Otherwise pretty much as soon as it was around for the mass public. Can't remember back that far.

BBS were the first thing I got into when we first got the Internet... was probably around 10 or 11 at the time.

EDIT: I'm 22 in a few months, so that's 11 or 12 years.

I've been using the net regularly for 9 years now (since I went to secondary school 9 years ago this week). There was 1 PC in the library (386 SX25) which had a 9.6k modem (upgraded to a 14.4k after a few months), which was quick! WFW 3.11, Winsock and NS2!

And I think I was using it for about a year before that at my mum's BF's place, but that was only the odd evening or weekend!

That will put me at 9-10 years

Wow, that's longer than I originally thought! I'm coming close to half my life online!
