What's your Starbucks density?

By the way, a couple of the veeps of Starbucks came and spoke to one of my accounting/financial analysis classes when I was in undergrad. Their strategic decision making was intriguing to me; for example, they base decisions to start up new stores on foot traffic patterns, not store density. Hence, there can potentially be logic behind the madness that inspired this thread.

That explains why I sometimes see 2 Starbucks on the same block, sometimes more than one in the same building.

Yep. U Village here in Seattle has three, I think, within the same shopping complex (all within an eighth of a mile of each other). However, each store has a different pattern of traffic and a different demographic walking by. I don't think I've seen any of the three without steady business.

There are 14 within 5 miles of me, but most of them are in a Farm Fresh or Harris Teeter or a book store.

All 3 places I avoid. too expensive for my blood.

I've got 13 within five miles, and 20 within ten. Unfortunately, none within five are easily accessible (all on college campuses, in major mall-type shopping areas, or in Downtown), so I drive about six miles every weekend morning to the shop in Bloomfield to get my coffee.

I toured one of their roasting facilities two years ago when I was local coffee roaster (D&M Coffee), they overroast their coffee and then nitrate their 5 lbers. They put a (good to date) stamp on them instead of a 'roast date'. They also use Robusta in 24% of their green mix.

True, but they make their coffee strong, which is better than all of the other coffee shops in the mid-Atlantic. Not all of us are fortunate enough to live in the Pacific Northwest

It should be really, really easy to burn up gift cards there (don't even have to buy any drinks). Tell them you want $x in coffee beans, or buy food or merchandise.
