Me too... at least when I was in high school. Tried to go into music and realized that being the sh*t in high school != being the sh*t in college. A few bad habbits of mine really prevented me from excelling to the next level.
Early on in my career, I became known for my work (software development). I woke up one day and realized that my career defined me. I haven't put in a hard day's work since.

As for right now, I'm trying to "find myself". It's a bit of a miserable position to be in (especially at age 29 when you have a wife and two kids), but I watched my Dad live and die in misery because he just accepted life as it was. I'm determined to do something about it.
As a result, I try anything that remotely interests me. Right now I'm cycling and running quite a bit (been doing the latter for about 4 years, actually). I'm finishing my basement to build a home gym, so I'll also be weightlifting. My wife and I are learning tennis (I needed something to compete at, so I might join a league once I become somewhat competent) and having a blast at it. Lastly, I'm learning how to play guitar.
If I was defined by one thing, it would be an adjective rather than a thing:
curious.
