Bobby gonna flay you with a 4k bottle of wine.

I would have left 40 bucks and called the cops. Told cops this is attempted theft and asked for an investigation and called local TV. Bobby flay would have given them the bottle for free.

DONT TAKE CRAP LIKE THIS.

We dine at fine extablishments all the time and anytime we had ordered someothing expensive the Sommelier NOT a junior fricking server comes over and confirms the selection. Sommelier is responsible for not confirming price.

Saying tree fiddy doenst mean shit.

Good luck when AC cops throw you in jail. They tried to talk to the manager, and he could only go down to $2,200 for the wine.

Ha. I understand how the world works. They ended up paying in the end.

I understand what you're saying. Maybe it could work, but the problem is most people don't want to cause a scene. In the end the customer loses.

They may have paid to go back to work but if they used the Amex they could call the fraud department. If they serve the restuant papers the charge back will happen faster than a bobby flay cooking show gets cancelled....

No in the end the customer will not lose if they make enough noise. Bad press for a celebrity restuarant is worse than eating the loss on a 2k bottle of wine.

I'm more interested in the "1 Seafood Tower .................... $135"

How much of a tower are we talking? Eiffel? Willis? Is it leaning?

If I ask you to recommend a wine, obviously I have no idea what I'm doing. And the waitress recommends a $3750 bottle of wine? Are you fucking kidding me? That right here is a problem. The waitress was deliberately trying to take advantage of him. She probably saw the chance to make a big tip.

I'd take that shit to court.

yea that seems like a monumental fuck up by the wait staff

thirty-seven fifty means 37.50 to 99.99% of the population

I think the server should be in the shit for recommending the 3rd most expensive bottle of wine to someone who told her he had "no wine experience".

yup. and in a real fine dining establishment the sommelier would come over and discuss their meals and what wine would best suit their palate. Should have given them a Santa Margarita Pinot for 34.99....

"thirty seven fifty" means 37.50

"thirty seven hundred fifty" means 3750.00

not a chance i would have paid a dime more than $37.50 for that bottle of wine. i would have left, had them call the cops and worked it out with them. it's not like they can physically keep you in the restaurant.

If their story is true these guys are pushovers. I would of refused to pay outright. If they wanted to call the cops I would of gladly explained the situation as it went down and tried to work it out to my win.

This is why restaurants go after the liquor license when they open. There is big money to be made from selling liquor during dinner.

is that also why clubs and bars do this?

wow i never would have guessed!

I think the real problem is the waitress is a fucking moron. If someone knows nothing about wine, they won't appreciate the difference in a $40 bottle vs a $4,000 bottle. There is zero point recommending such a wine. I hope she is fired.

And, the management is also comprised of fucking morons. If the waitress was heard saying "thirty seven fifty", she just lost you some money. Fire her and be done with it. Fighting this only ruins your reputation. Management will now be replaced. Bobby Flay isn't going to like negative press at his establishment, especially on something that is the fault of the staff.

Also, has anyone ever sent wine back after they opened it? That seems bad form. I don't order wine I know I won't like, so it would have to be ruined for me to do that.

Many more headaches owning a bar/club. Clubs need to worry about underage drinking, and fights that break out between drunken idiots. You are much less likely to have those issues in a restaurant.
