When already?!?! (6800U)

Just curious if anyone know when the "nice" 6800's will be around. WHat do I mean by "nice"? I mean the ones that are agressivly clocked (not that the normal ones arent). I am aware that one can find an AOpen or MSI if you look hard enough but I have never owned a card from either of em and am not sure of the quality. In addition, what is the fastest version called......Ultra......UltraExtreme.....XT........wht am I looking for here?

Never. I can't believe you haven't heard about it, but nVidia decided to just cancel the 6800 series and just concentrate on developing the next generation after it.

No one knows when these will become readily available. A few have started trickling out, but they are pretty horrendously overpriced, so I doubt you wanna go for any of them.

I am eagerly anticipating this card. I might be getting one for $450 shipped, but I'm pretty doubtful that it is in fact an Ultra.

Hopefully they'll start streaming out soon. This is getting pretty annoying with both the Ultra and the X800XT. I'm not sure what nVidia and ATi's problems seem to be, but its pretty bad when nVidia unveiled the 6800 way back at the end of April. Two months late if not later probably....

Wouldnt it make sense to actually launch the card when you luanch it? I mean, its gettin to be like cars! They announce the new F150 in February and you can by it nice and early in September!! OIY

Yeah, I fully agree with you.

I know it won't make any difference, but someone should try to get a bunch of gamers (well the people who wait in anticipation for these great cards every time they come out) to sign a petition or something, like send e-mails or letters, to nVidia and ATi calling for an end to this false launching.

They are expected to (actually) ship (in quantity) ~ the 28th of this month.

I really (really) wanted a 6800u but the longer i waited the more p o'd i got (especially "stuck" with a Radeon 8500-128MB).

After 3 (read: THREE) preorders (from $299 to $550) that were cancelled or else fell through, my nerve "broke" and i ordered yesterday (and got today) an ATI Radeon Pro 256/256 (the 'xt' ver with Hynix 2.5ns RAM) for $223 shipped from NewEgg.

At this point i simply don't care what nVidia or ATI does. I have a card that can play ANYthing out now at max details w/aa&af . . . in 6 months i can Reevaluate my GPU situation and decide to UPgrade THEN when the Fall refresh products are out and the current XT and 6800u are deeply discounted (plus i think my "'xt' Pro" will not have devalued that much from $223).

 

I am with ya............but my desire to play with settings maxed...with aa and af AND at 1600x1200 is to strong. I'll keep a waitin

Technically, it is shipping, caz, but it's not in any sort of major volume. As far as I'm concerned(and most other people, I assume), something's not "availible" until it's widely availible to the point where we can grab it from the big-name stores, like Newegg, MWave, or any of the B&M stores. As it stands right now, just about everyone has their stuff on back-order/pre-order, so you can't actually get a card. On a side note, are you sure the card you ordered is even going to ship soon?

Pricing error, it looks like. $299 for the 6800 GT. It was up for a couple hours in the morning 2 days ago. People who ordered more than one only got one.

i have a xp 2400 and i just ordered the x800xt platinum for $435.00 shipped online. How cpu clogged will i be until i upgrade to a 3500 or 3800 around september. I have a 9600 pro now. You're gonna HATE this artice (if you prefer nVidia)

Nvidia also sent a lot of NV45 Geforce 6800GT, PCI Express cards to reviewers and that indicates to us that Nvidia doesn't have any problems makeing this chip run at 350MHz but faster 400 MHz chips are still on hold, apart from a few hundred or less Gainward Cool FX2600 Geforce 6800 Ultra clocked at the magic 450MHz number.

The company also claims that its long time announced Geforce 6800 Ultra and non Ultra will be available in Summer 2004 whenever that is. The calendar summer starts in just a few days but it lasts three month.

i don't care anymore . . . i dropped out of the waiting game and got a (real - $223) cheap 9800"XT"

At NewEgg - it took almost 1/2 day for them to realize they priced the 256/256 ath the 128MB price.
