When did Newegg become so anti customer service?

I ordered something with 2 day shop runner shipping. They shipped it ground and won't be here for 4 business days. I called them and they basically said too bad, we don't guarantee anything. So basically they are getting support from shop runner and just pocketing the money they may get. There have been multiple complaints to shop runner about this issue, hopefully they will drop Newegg.

I knew I moved mostly to amazon for a reason but now Newegg has lost me for life.

pretty much this. haven't ordered from Newegg in quite some time. Their prices aren't as competitive anymore, either.

I've started to notice that fewer items give you the option for shoprunner 2-day shipping... but yeah.. the prices aren't too competitive these days

They are on that fine line between shady retailer you wont buy from and trusted retailer you buy from without thinking about it. Sad really as it use to be the latter and they get closer and closer to the former everyday.

Seriously, they're trying sell everything including car products and garden tools...You can't compete with Amazon. When was the last time you needed tools for the garage and you think that you'll go to newegg to get it?

Stick with selling PC components? I assume they're bright enough to see where that platform is headed. I'm not saying they should be trying to sell rakes and hoes, but they definitely needed to expand beyond the geek overclocker market.

Maybe the Shoprunner thing just ends up being a third-party relationship that isn't working out. They usually don't.

Most retailers have been great with shop runner. Every other merchant has shipped 2 day. Last time I had an issue with Newegg I should have written them off. They tried charging me a restocking fee on a doa item.

Agree 100% on the stop trying to be amazon because amazon actually had great customer service.

Sorry but I don't go to Newegg when I need a new watch, necklace, bracelets, paintball, basketball, camping gear, perfume, refridgerator, washer/dryer, furniture, BBQ grills, fishing gear, etc...

Yep, they tried charging me restocking fee on a defective & used (trace of thermalpaste on the CPU socket) motherboard which advertised as new and won't let me return the free ram that came with the motherboard. Instead they take out the price of the free ram + restocking fee + I have to send the mobo back on my own dime. After all that, I'm basically sending them a free motherboard back...

It was all fixed when an employee who browse this message board caught my rant.

I haven't had any issues with NewEgg, but with the comparable selection, pricing, and 2-day Prime shipping, I order most of my computer parts from Amazon these days. Returns are easier with Amazon too, they provide you a prepaid label and make it as painless as possible if you do have to send something back.

Still use NewEgg's excellent product search engine and reviews quite a bit to research parts, but will often order from someplace else after figuring out what I want.

Lol isn't that the truth for a lot of people? Find the model # of the item you want on Newegg then buy elsewhere because of better prices and service.

I had similar experiences. The slow shipping with shop runner happened only once recently(done 5 or so orders in past month) so I'll give them a pass on shipping. However, having to argue to just accept a defective video card for store credit, definitely has steered me to amazon for most pc components.

Man, isn't this the truth. I remember my first purchase from Newegg, I bought an ECS K7S5A and it arrived with a DOA IDE port. I called Newegg CS and the rep just shipped me a new one overnight with no extra charges, and even credited my card for the return shipping charges.

The second time I ordered a motherboard, I ended up going on vacation before it arrived and they were more than willing to redirect to the house I was staying at.

I've also gotten free shipping upgrades just by calling and asking for them.

For me, Newegg started to go downhill when they put the "Marketplace" online. I really hate this. Walmart, Best Buy, Newegg, they're all trying to be Amazon. Just let Amazon be Amazon, and you be the online storefront for your B&M locations (WM/BB). Newegg needs to lose the Marketplace and step their CS back up. I haven't ordered anything from them in a long time, and I probably won't anymore.

I wrote them off years ago. After spending nearly 50k at Newegg, it was a hard move to make, but incredibly poor customer service drove me away. They've pulled ridiculous amounts of bullshit on their customers and I don't have time for that.

I haven't had any of these kinds of issues with Amazon. They've definitely won my business over every other online retailer.

Ordered computer parts on Nov 30th, and they STILL haven't even shipped yet. Just sitting in the warehouse. I've send in two complaints already, still no resolution in sight.

I'll be looking to Amazon from now on. Newegg is really going downhill.

One problem with Amazon is if you pick their 4-8 day free shipping or whatever it is, they will actually hold the items to make sure they don't arrive before the estimated time.

Done with newegg here as well unless it's an amazing deal. Newegg and Shoprunner can't hold a candle to Amazon's prime.

Ordered an item from newegg 5 days ago that was in stock with Shoprunner. Still in packaging state. They show on their website to expect delays due to high volume from black friday and now with the weather. Seriously they can't handle the volume from their own sales due to blackfriday???? Sounds like a lot of BS excuses.

Amazon sure hasn't had a problem delivering multiple items to me in the same time frame.
