Like anyone would tell you where they hide the sheep. And why was I not informed?
How did LA get an NFL team?
The real question is how long before they are run off due to LA poor attendance?
Us SoCalians have way too many things to keep us distracted to entertain a failing NFL team.
You mean 2024? Holy crap, 2024?!! Where are the flying cars I was promised?to this point, I forgot we're also building a 350m soccer stadium: http://abc7.com/sports/construction-officially-underway-for-las-$350m-soccer-stadium/1481658/
c'moooooooooooon Olympics, LA 2022. We got the infrastructure (or will have it soon)!
Yeah, of all the places to put a stadium, they chose Inglewood. Probably because of the cheap lands due to random chance of stabbing and shooting.
Just think if they would of ended up with 3 teams? Wasn't San Diego & Oakland talking about moving there too for a bit last year? The real question is how long before they are run off due to LA poor attendance?
Jerry Jones and Stan Kroenke had way more juice than people realized going into the vote. How did LA get an NFL team?
It never was going to be 3 teams. It was the Rams bid vs. the Chargers/Raiders joint bid. There's a lot of logic to a 2 team/1 stadium bid, but the Rams were a safer play (Kroenke has very deep pockets).Just think if they would of ended up with 3 teams? The L.A. Metro area can easily support 1 NFL team (regardless of competitiveness). 2 isn't unreasonable either, but I don't know how the Chargers would fair if they moved to L.A. and continued to suck

The Raiders only option appears to be Las Vegas, but owner Mark Davis is "poor" by NFL billionaire standards and doesn't have the resources to privately finance a new stadium. I believe he's hoping casino billionaire Sheldon Adelson will bail him out. For now, it seems like the NFL will be "okay" with an NFL franchise in Sin City.
So you're telling me the most popular American sport can't out-draw less popular sports, hosting just 8 games (per team) a year? I'm a bit surprised that L.A. is getting a second MLS team, but demographically it makes perfect sense. There is no way LA could support 2 NFL teams, on top of 1.5 NHL teams, 2 NBA teams, 2 MLS teams, 1.5 MLB teams, AND 2 excellent college football programs...on top of all the other cool shit that happens in LA every weekend.
I gotta say, that's ridiculous to actually type out.
It depends on location. Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara was privately financed. I'm not saying they didn't get all kinds of ancillary help from the city, but the construction project itself was not backed by direct public funding AFAIK. Likewise with the Rams stadium project in Inglewood, but I could be wrong.Owners today finance only a fraction of the cost of an NFL stadium. The Vikings just opened their new stadium, with a cost of something like $1.1B dollars. There's what the state of Minnesota paid, the city of Minneapolis, and Hennepin county. Naming rights and sponsorships that go well beyond just the stadium name - there's a Hyundai club and various other corporate sponsors like Land O'Lakes and Miller Lite. Every square inch of unused space, inside and out is for sale. Plus, the NFL itself kicked in a couple hundred million. Someone who added it all up claimed that the Vikings ownership group might end up paying less than $50M total.
According to the following article (and other sources), Vikings ownership is contributing about half the cost of the new stadium:

If they didn't have their chance to support one NFL team numerous times and fail, why would you think they could support 2? LA are fairweather NFL fans to the max. Investors know soccer is on the rise and MLS teams are cheap. The two "emerging" markets are the US and China, and you aren't starting a team in Shanghai unless you're Chinese. So you're telling me the most popular American sport can't out-draw less popular sports, hosting just 8 games (per team) a year?
