when I restart I'm getting the message "system failed do to overclocking" and have to press delete and to enter bios and just save and exit or just exit and it always comes when I startup. I also get the RAID configuration on startup. Do you know how to get rid of these? Please help!

Well are you OCing? If so dont OC or give it some more voltage.

If you arent OCing then reset the BIOS to defaults (ie CMOS Reset).

Edit: THe raid BIOS will always show up. You tell it not to as it is integrated into the M/B (3rd Party RAID/SATA controller). Just deal with the extra 2 secs. All fully features boards are going to do this (as long as they have SATA/RAID).

My mobo (see sig) has sata/raid built-in. In my case, one can get rid of it (the sata/raid boot screen) by disabling it in BIOS. Try disabling it in your BIOS and see if it'll disappear.

Yes I'm overclocking. So everyone that overclocks has to have the hassel of entering the bios on every startup?

It means that the system failed to boot at whatever speed your overclocking too and defaulted back to stock speed. Give the CPU some more juice, or turn it down some.

I set the Volts to 1.673. I've overclocked my 3000+ winchester to 2250mhz. Where should I set the volts to?

I ran Prime95 for 5 hours with no errors.

What should the volts be?

Somethings not right with what you're doing for a Winchester to give out at that voltage at that speed. What's your FSB/HTT and your HTT multiplier at? Also what's your memory running at?

And yes, if you're going to go ahead and overclock, you need to be comfortable with the bios - it's not a no effort thing.

Hmmm... This sounds exactly like what is happening to me... I can only go up to about 210, and I'm at 1.5 volts on the CPU...

I've had the same problem on my 3000+ winchester when I had it overclocked. Around 2.1Ghz it would say "System boot fail due to CPU overclocking". Everytime I heard that damn voice I wanted to destroy something. Since then though, my bios failed (****!!!!) and I had to go back to the original one and didn't bother overclocking again, since I didn't see any improvement anyways.

maybe i'll try oc'ing again, but for now I gotta figure out whats wrong with this piece of **** video card, because I'm getting artifacts and its not even OC'ed. And HL2 runs like complete **** at higher than medium settings, with full detail.

If you are running an ASUS A8V Rev 01, you may have damaged your video card by OCing. The Rev 01 board does not support AGP/PCI locking, so if you OC your FSB, then you are OCing your video card without meaning to and can damage it.

I'm running a A8N Sli-Deluxe. But I'm pretty sure (but not 100%) I've had that problem from the start, but thought that it's just a driver issue at first. I never cared much for Doom3 (the game I'm getting artifacts in) so I didn't really look into it. But when people started telling me that they're running HL2 at max settings, with 1024x768 resolutions (or higher) with a similar system to mine, I started to look into it a bit more...

...also, how the heck am I supposed to get rid of this "System Failed...." message? I just updated the BIOS to version 1003 final and I tried OC'ing again, and got the same thing at 240mhz x 9 with RAM speed set to DDR333. Is there something that I need to adjust in BIOS to get rid of that? RAM Timings, voltage?

Digger, don't know where you got your info, but its wrong. You must be thinking of the A8V that info is correct for that board but not this one.

The PCI-E lock work fine on all A8N-SLI's rev.1 boards. In all bios there is a setting for PCI-E in the jumper free section, it is set at 100mhz by default and stays right there regardless of HTT. The PCI lock also work on all A8N's. With bios 1002 up through 1003.004 the lock is enabled by setting the HTT at 201 or higher in the Jumperfree section of bios. With bios 1003.005 and up there is a seperate clock setting in the jumperfree section for PCI clock it is set at 33.34.

Ok here are my settings:

CPU Freq: 250 mhz
PCI Express Clock: 100 mhz
DDR Volts: 2.9v
CPU Mulitplier: x9
CPU Voltage: 1.525v
HTT: x3
Ram Divider: DDR333 (5:6)
Timing: 1T
Ram Timing: 2.5-4-3-7

I have the 3000+ winchester and a A8N-SLI mobo. My ram is 2 256mb chips that came out of a sony pcv-720g.

The Ram passes memtest-86 up to 225 mhz(I didnt test any more because I used a divider so my ram is at 208 mhz)

I ran Prime95 for 5 hours and all is ok. My system is fine its just when I start up I get that error. All I have to do is enter bios and exit with out saving. I just dont get it. I also get that stupid RAID config at start up. Its disabled in my bios how do I get rid of that? I use a SATA Hard drive.

It's sounds like to me you should go to all default settings first.......most importantly the ram!!! Not all Ram is supported or compatible to all individual mobo's I believe. Go Auto and Default in your bios and start from scratch.
