Good evening all!

Sorry for my grammatical errors it was early yesterday morning when my last post went up like 5 am, no excuse but......... I was steaming though!

ps Jaggerwild you running a q6600 on that EVGA board or something else? I'm in the market for a new board and 3.6 was my original goal with the current set up.

Mr. Sterman,
Yes I'm running two BFG 8800GT OC 512 in SLI and the EVGA 680iLT(Cheap one)four gigs of G-skill1066, 4 WD raptors 36gig raid5 was a raid0 but got corrupted cause of the OC. Enermax 850 galaxy, C2D Qaud 6600@3.66 underwater I could go higher if the chip sets were cooled too. Also I could do the TIM on the chip sets for better cooling as the factory is very poor. I thought my giga-crap clocked high but then I opened this thing up WOW is all I can say. I put my E6750 on this board and got 17,455 never went that high in my giga crap.

Mr. Beagle,
Great posts again, well said.I let my temper get out in front of me, not good! I've just had it with this @@. Just like the board we bought all just garbage! Though I'm done with words and will be taking action shortly.

Kell,
I understand your point and really want no more of there junk either as it's a pain to have to keep taking it out then putting it back.

Again I'll be purchasing another board soon, just not sure witch one I'll get. Been looking at XFX and there 780, I hear they to (780's) all have problems. Suppose to be a fixed 680.

Regards!

I'm in the market for a new MB and CPU and was just reading around the forums. It was between a Gigabyte and Abit board. I have NO interest in supporting with my $ a mfg that treats it's customers this way.

SO.......guess what GA......you just lost a sale

Good luck guys ...hope you are able to resolve this issue.

I'm really glad this section was put up. A lot of us buy our equipment based on what we read on top web sites like Anandtech. I think companies do see this and it's a great forum to express our opinions with product as well as read the reviews on them.
I hope Gigabyte notices this and decides to support their customers and not use false advertising and half written bios updates on us anymore. I bought one of their 680i-DQ6 boards hoping for an upgrade path in the future only to find out I was lied to and now i'm stuck with product that doesn't perform. As I stated in a previous post on the 680-DQ6 thread they need to act like the larger IBM/HP/HP/MAC PC builders or get ready to lose customers from lack of support. Done ranting, but I want my 680i-DQ6 replaced. As of now I will NEVER buy or recommend another one of their products.

Thank you Beagle for starting this thread.

Good Day...

Unfortunately, there was a three day holiday in Taiwan/China and we were unable to reach anyone in the main offices. We spoke with the US office and they were trying to contact the same personnel. I will not have an update until Monday. I did not receive details on the final program yet, so I have no way of confirming what the customer support group is saying is true or not right now. I hope it is not. I will have an update on Monday.

Good Evening Mr. Gary & Everyone.

As always, Mr. Gary NEVER FAILS us! We are all very grateful to you, Gary (and your colleagues as well), for helping the N680i board owners get justice and fair play from the GB giant. The outcome of next week's discussions with the senior management at GB should be very enlightening. We shall all see.

Best regards to everyone. Have a nice evening. TheBeagle

anandtechs newest article is actually the 1st time ive heard of this issue.

Perhaps the problem is with the 680i chipset and not Gigabyte. Not alot of manufacturers are making motherboards with this chipset rather than intel's.

Spent some time reading through this thread and the closed one over at Tweak Town (wow!). Took me over an hour, reading many of the posts and following the links.

Really appreciate this thread and the killed one for pointing out this behaviour. I got screwed with my Audigy 2 ZS big time (have you seen Creative Labs forums lately?) and I am in the market for a new MB myself (most likely an AMD one but could be swayed to go Intel) and I will not be buying a Gigabyte board for me or my clients if this is not resolved properly. Releasing an unsupported beta bios is not resolving anything.

I'll be checking out this thread to see how it goes...

ATTENTION ATTENTION!!!

Good Evening Everyone.

Go to the main page of Anandtech and read the just released article about the failed Gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6 motherboard!! Mr. Gary just wrote a superb article and let the chips fall where they may. Indeed, GB got their jewels roasted, and that's just the opening article. A careful reading of the article strongly suggests that if GB doesn't do the right thing for the N680i board owners, the follow up article might just be a real bloodletting.

Congratulations to Gary & AT. You have clearly proven that you will stand with the members when it is right and just, even as against the interests of a major advertiser such as Gigabyte. WELL DONE!!

Best regards to everyone. Beers all around! TheBeagle

Read the article and I think Anandtech answered your call to expose this case of poor customer support. I always hold this site's opinions in high regards when doing research on purchases.

Now to wait and see if Gigabyte will support its customers...

Wow I thought we were doomed to accept the poor treatment we're getting from Gigabyte. Kinda given up already but Beagle and gary are the greatest! Talk about bringing attention and making the issue known to everyone. Thanks for your support and efforts!!!

Same here mate (happy P5K owner). I'd be pretty upset about this situation as well. After this article, Gigabyte would have to take some concrete measures or their reputation would be seriously damaged. Things like this spread like wildfire through the internets.

I sent in a dead ga-p35-dq6 for rma and after a month from the time it was received at Gigabyte they sent it back to me saying it was "fixed" but I haven't had the heart to rebuild yet. I don't know what is worse, spending almost $300 for a motherboard and having it die in a few months or buying it from a company that gives me no confidence that my issues will be resolved and eating the cost of the motherboard to avoid further hassles. I sympathize with the 680 owners and I hope they can be fairly compensated. I will never buy another gigabyte product again but I wonder what the odds are that my p35-dq6 is fixed and will run a e8400 without problems. Any guesses?

Oh boy !!! Am I a happy AT reader or what. It really counts a lot that AT had the guts to take on the big guys rather than curl up in the corner or look the other way. This is an astounding display of responsibility towards AT readers. I only wish that others had the backbone to stand up and be counted like AT did.

Thanks guys. That means a lot to all of us.

@ lightzout,
Your guess is as good as anyone's but what options do you think you have ? Obviously you cannot sell the board if you do not know if it works or not and the only way to find out is to test it. If it works then all is fine. If it doesn't then welcome to the club.

This is why AT is my favourite review site . Well done Gary on an excellent article pertaining to quite a few issues that needed addressing, this has also changed what I will recommend to people- especially the 125w CPU on 780G issue. All eyes are now on Gigabyte to see how they respond to this...I only hope their response is one in the best interests of you 680i owners!

Good Afternoon Everyone.

Today I posted a short Thread over at TweakTown Forums which linked to Gary's superb article on Anandtech. The folks at TT promptly closed the Thread, but at last view, at least they didn't remove it. Very interesting. They must be VERY afraid of Gigabyte's wrath at TT. That real a shame.

Best regards to everyone. Have a nice Sunday afternoon. TheBeagle

Titled "Post Cards from the Edge - AMD 780G, NVIDIA 790i, Gigabyte 680i"

This sux, I just ordered a gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H and a 6400+ and according to this article I may have serious problems, should I return it? and If so what mobo should I get?

I wouldn't risk it, although a quick check at Newegg and a few other sites reports people successfully using your combo. I haven't been in the market for the new AMD chipsets yet but I would look at a 790FX board as it will most likely handle a 125w cpu better. The board you bought is around $100 so the 790FX board will run you a little more than that.
