You know the majority of you show your lack of intelligence by jumping to conclusions.

ONE if you knew me and I've been here 3 years you'd know I don't cry, and two if you took a second to REALLY read you'd see that no one was crying in this post, I was simply asking when one might see that a LCD for the money might be worth it. But one thing I do know is geeks with PCs have an attitude, I've been around this business 20 years, and I'd never flame or piss on your psots from any of you here, so next itme I make a post if you can't participate in it with respect then please don't bother!

Because I'd at least have the respect and courtesy to show you some.

SO KNOCK IT OFF!

and also if you want to know why you are getting flamed, just read your own title:

"When is LCD Technology Going To Be Worth It"

or this

"All I'd love to know from the world of LCDs is when can expect to start seeing something that is worth the money we spend?"

basically you are calling everyone here who's using an LCD (pretty much everyone here) an idiot for buying technology that's "not worth it"

OMG a 24 inch CRT on your computer desk. No thanks.

There are many LCDs that are worth the money, and most major flaws have been dealt with. They look better than CRTs, so I don't see what you are comparing them to...... They are also much harder to make than CRTs, so you have to expect more flaws. The good new is, with every passing month, you can find new LCDs that are better than last month's in every way, and cheaper to boot. Not sure what version of the internet you're looking at. And I'm not flaming, and am cool, just addressing your post.

EDIT: spelling

I don't understand the OP's point. There's no such thing as a perfect product.

I've used desktop-based LCDs since 2000. They used to be crap, but they've come a long way and the newest ones are great. Can you even buy a regular tube monitor in stores these days? I never seem 'em advertised anyway. As for pricing, bargain-basement 19" LCD monitors can be had for around $110 last time I checked.

And I'm using a 32" Viewsonic LCD HDTV right now and have no intentions of going back to tube-based TVs.

My 21 inch widescreen Samsung for $299 sure works for me. I switched to an LCD years ago and have never regretted it....

WOOHOO - I'm going to be reported!!!

Honestly, grow the hell up. You're not seeing that you obviously have an opinion that is different from the mass majority of people and businesses. You are essentially knocking anyone who uses an LCD by saying they are not decent.

"I have seen that they all seem plagued with issues." As with any electronic product, there is a certain percentage that will have faults with them. I would NOT say that all LCD's have been plagued with issues. Want to talk about lack of intelligence, spot on right there.

You were offered a suggestion for the 2005FPW, but then you want to say it has all these issues.

You don't seem to realize that CRT's have issues also. People have tubes go out and all sorts of other things. Does that automatically mean they are all bad?

I think the biggest point of the LCD's is the space saved. If that fits the bill, then it's worth it already.

Don't PM me with this BS:

"You don't know me that is why I can say you'll be put on warning for a ban."

Threatening members and impersonating an AT Mod isn't the smart thing to do.

You can STFU for the last time.

LCDs have improved a lot, but things like backlight bleeding will probably be an issue with LCDs far many years to come. They keep improving, but I don't know if there will be a "perfect" lcd in the forseeable future.

shadowing and banding still exist, but generally, they are becoming less and less of issues (except for certain exceptions such as the 2406 with banding issues.)

I've still got several 19inch flat tube CRTs and the black levels on them are much better then the black levels on my LCds, however my 6ms Acer 24inch widescreen from this year is worlds better than my 27inch ILO (with a tatung LCD) from a couple of years ago.

Viewing angle will probably never match CRT, however, it too is improving.

There are plusses and minuses for every technology out there. Go with what matters most to you and get what's the best for you.

For me, I wanted a widescreen with a decently high resolution for $800 or less, so I chose my 24inch Acer.
I considered a 22inch widescreen Sony CRT (higher resolution), but all the ones out there are closer to 2K or refurbs.

LCDs have been improving a lot in the Price, resolution, and refresh rates as of recent while CRTs have pretty much been consistantly the same over the last few years.

KNOCK it OFF, I'm not the one with the attitude telling me to STFU and grow the hell up.

PLEASE READ THE POST.

No one said LCDs are pefect, I also didn't say I was taking any sides to this issue I was just asking the question of when an LCD would be worth it's costs.

When the technology when come more up to par. A $350 LCD should be better technology then it is, that is all.

There is no one CRYING over anything. Now if you can't act mature and have a discussion over this matter then PLEASE LEAVE.

I was hoping the people that work in this field would have some answers not alot of people going off making assumptions over my post

Definitely. When I bought an LCD, I was looking for something that took up less desk space, lighter (moving my 22" CRT sucked ass), crisper text (DVI rocks), and easier on the eyes. I don't know what the OP is looking for, but obviously LCDs don't satisfy his demands. That's understandable, but he shouldn't go around telling people that their LCD purchases aren't worth it.
