When opening Word Documents from explorer, how do I get multiple programs instead of one

Yes, I know, stupid question but I'm hoping someone out there is at work and had a co-worker nag them about this too.

Essentially they want to be able to switch between Word Documents easily, without having to go up to Window, and switch it, so instead they want Word to open up multiple programs so they can Alt-Tab between.

Easy Solution out there?

If I understand you correctly, that is the way Word2000 works now, i.e. you'll get a different task bar entry for every file you are editing and you can just click on the one you want. So, if you really really want this feature, an upgrade may be in order.

Also, at least in Word2000, Ctrl-F6 will switch you to the next window. Ctrl-Shift-F6 sends you to the previous Window.

For whatever version of word you are using, use Help to find out what the shortcut keys are.

If you really hate that Ctrl-F6 key, you could set up a different assignment, e.g. F12 could be used instead. That is, you would assign F12 to the "NextWindow" command. Here are the docs for doing this in Word2000:

--------------------

Assign shortcut keys to a command or other item

You can assign a shortcut key to a command, macro, font, AutoText entry, style, or a commonly used symbol.

On the Tools menu, click Customize.

Click Keyboard.

In the Save changes in box, click the current document name or template in which you want to save the shortcut key changes.

In the Categories box, click the category that contains the command or other item.

In the box to the right, click the name of the command or other item.
Any shortcut keys that are currently assigned appear in the Current keys box.

In the Press new shortcut key box, type the shortcut key combination you want to assign.

Click Assign.

Note The key combination CTRL+ALT+F8 is reserved for initiating keyboard programming on programmable keyboards, so you cannot assign this combination if you use a programmable keyboard.
