Depends on the bag. When we have the trashbags with the "handles" in them, I use them to tie the bag closed. If we have the kind without the handles, I just tie a know in the top of the bag.

The trash bags here have drawstrings (kitchen garbage). The little garbages in the rooms we just use empty plastic bags from Wal-Mart or whereever.

When I was going to school we had to buy special trash bags for city pickup, we usually twisty-tied those, sometimes just tied the bag itself.

Depends how full the bag is, how close the twist-ties are, how heavy the bag is, and how cold (and thus nimble) my fingers are.

At my apartment, I don't do either - my apartment has a dumpster just outside, so I simply carry my two trashcans out and empty them right into it.

Why would I do either? I have a garbage can I put my bags of garbage in---drop bag in, close lid, done. I don't care if they are tied or not.
