When the Pentax K10D comes out, does anyone wanna help me set up a Pentax website?

Methinks that the new Pentax K10D's gonna be a very competitive camera when it comes out. Does anyone think it'd be cool to set up a Pentax SLR website?

Things to include:

A database of Pentax compatible lenses, including all the oldies, with user reviews and sample shots taken with the lenses.

A Pentax Buy/Sell forum!!!

Photo competitions?

Snuggles!

Bumping this because people are now getting their K10D's!!!

Looks like an exciting camera, can't wait until the DA* lenses come out. (From what I hear, the DA 16-45 F4 is competitive with the Canon 17-40 F4 L). And yes, it would be awesome to have a Pentax community outside of DPReview's crappy forum layout. (IIRC, there is one, but not a lot of users)

I'm a Canon user and have too much in Canon glass to go to the Pentax, but the camera does interest me. I would like to get ahold of one to try it out.

I have an *ist DL right now, not much invested in glass, and have been looking to move to Canon/Nikon, but the K10D and the prospects of the DA* lenses, along with Pentax's legendary primes look extremely tempting.

There are some ISO1600 tests on DPReview Pentax forums which don't look too bad (IMO, still not at Canon's level), but definitely competitive with what I've seen with the Nikon D80 (which is inching closer and closer to Canon levels of low noise high ISO)

Not really, and the reason is obvious.

This isn't the 80's anymore, and the days of SLR partisianship are pretty much gone, except for die hard Leica users who still think their 35mm frame is superior to MF.

Intelligent photographers don't buy brands, they buy cameras, and hyping a specific brand simply for the sake that you own one is really not providing a service to anybody. I honestly hope Pentax does well with the K10D, but truth is Nikon and Canon will introduce better dSLR models within 6months. What difference does it make anyway considering Canon, Nikon and Pentax all make 50mm 1.8 lenses, they all make wide-zooms, and in all cases the 50mm will destroy the wide zoom regardless of if it's a Pentax, Canon or Nikon. Gear is gear, and the reason you don't own a full frame dSLR is you can't afford it, not because somebody made good lenses 20years ago.

You'd b better off having a more objective photo-site not orientated towards a specific brand, and discussing digital photography in general. Pentax shooters will probabl go to dpreview.com anyways.

I disagree. I feel the general purpose sites have an allegiance to many - but a love of none.

Pentax owners would benefit from a comprehensive site dedicated to their camera rather than digging through old posts on some general purpose site for information that may more may not exist there.

One thing, I would inlclude all pentax cameras from the oldest film to the most basic digital p&s. . .don't focus on just one camera. Make it the wikipedia for pentax cameras.

Yep, agreed. The Minolta mount site, dyxum.com (combines Dynax and Maxxum, the European and American brand names) is extremely useful for the few Minoltans out there, relatively speaking, for research on lenses and for updated questions about accessories and the quirks of the cameras. I find the best answers there though DPReview does have useful info as well. As is mentioned, though, DPReview is crap for organization.

Wish I could help. Looks like a fun camera. The only person I know interested is my dad, who is a thousand miles away. I can't wait to see it though.
