What troubles me is people touting stability. (regardless of who makes the chipset) Yet if you look they are overclocking their system! HAH! Talk about being a hypocrite! Remember, ANY time you overclock, you're taking a gamble, PERIOD! You can run 3DMark 2001, Prime95, Memtest until the cows and flying toasters come in and *think* your system is stable, but as long as it's overclocked there is always a chance of something being calculated wrong and you never know it. Do I overclock? Hell yeah, but the system I work on is running 100% at certified speed. I just can't take the chance of something getting fuxored up and haunting me down the road.
That said, VIA and SiS do make a good solution. VIA tends to be more fragile. This means that they tend to have more incompatibilies with other hardware that can cause problems. Yes, Intel is very good but they're not innocent either. This P3C2000 (I-820/SDRAM) motherboard that I have for target practice is one example.
