Some are reporting that the Kingston 40GB SSD is shipping with the 2CV102HA firmware, which is the same firmware that adds support for TRIM on Intel's G2 SSD drives.

Can anyone confirm whether their Kingston 40GB SSD has the 2CV102HA firmware with TRIM?

I'm probably the last person that should chime in on this because I know very little, but crystal disk info is telling me I have the 2CV102HA firmware and that trim is not supported on the drive. It woulda been cool if it did right out the box!

Well I haven't gotten my drive yet, nor do I know, but you both mentioned the same firmware. Will that support firmware if its on the drive or no?

Are you using Windows 7 with the default Microsoft SATA driver? Or did you install some third-party driver, like the Intel Matrix Storage set?

I don't know whether Crystal Disk reports the correct info on TRIM if a non-Microsoft SATA driver is used.

The 2CV102HA firmware on the Intel 80GB and 160GB SSDs supports TRIM, but I suppose it is possible that the Kingston uses a modified version of that firmware.

With the 02HA firmware and standard Microsoft Win 7 AHCI driver Crystal Disk Info is saying no TRIM support on my 40GB Kingston, so I guess we're out of luck on this one.

The only info I could find wasn't very specific as far as time frame (from legitreviews)

"We asked Kingston if this specific drive would support TRIM and got the following answer:

Kingston: "Currently, the Kingston SSDNow V Series 40GB Boot Drive does not support TRIM. However, we will have it for this drive as it is on our road map." - Kingston%

got my drive this morning. really fast for free shipping, west coast to east coast. However, there was no invoice or receipt in the bubble mailer, only a packing list sticker.

The rebate that I d/l from newegg says I need a sales receipt, packing lists won't suffice. Anyone else run into the same thing?

I believe you can print one from your newegg accounts page, there should be a link in there to "print invoice"

Got both of mine this weekend (one for desktop, one for HTPC). Got the desktop up and running last night (Win 7 x64 with an i5-750). Boot time seems faster, application load time is definitely improved. Hopefully Kingston will follow through on its word and we'll get TRIM fairly quickly.

To play Devil's Advocate, we don't actually know how many Newegg had for sale at that price. They could have had only 10 (as a previous post postulated) or they could have had 100, or 1000. We had advanced knowledge of it not only on Anandtech, but also a bunch of other sites. I'm sure many, many people were on the lookout for this deal.

I do know one thing. The 30/32GB Indilinx drives no longer have a reason to exist. :awe:

You can blame me a little bit, I started the thread over at Slickdeals. I had a feeling these would sell out quickly so I ended up setting my alarm for 1:55am to make sure I got one (or, as it ended up, two). But I was so intent on ordering I totally missed the $10 deal on the cases. Oh well.

The Kingston 40GB SSD is currently "out of stock" at newegg again, with an ETA of 11/27/09. Everyone knows what that day is... I'm expecting the same price to show up. Hopefully with the same combo. That SSD plus an Antec 200 for under $100 is a steal.

My gut tells me you're setting yourself up for disappointment. There's simply too much demand for this product to put it on sale.

A four hour rebate/sale was probably more than enough for Kingston to get a feel for demand on this product.

I think they will put it back up with the rebate.
