When will the ATI radeon 9800 pro be shipping?

No one knows for sure what its specs/release date/price will be. All is pure speculation. I'm sure ATi would like to get it out before or the same time as nVidia releases NV35.

Think it will be out by August? Cause thats when I am gonna upgrade my computer again, and would like to put one of those in it, I guess I could wait until they come out to upgrade though.

The 128mb 9800 pro was at Fry's Electronics last friday night for 399.99. Therey were only 4 and tey were sitting in a box,not even on the shelf yet..

nvidia wont do it AGAIN, TSMC screwed it up for them. THey learned, and now will have it available when annouced i guarentee. im sayin yeah ATI is savin for when NV35 comes out, but they also might be having problems with DDR-II yields and performance nd HEAT (look at NV30)

Or, put another way "when will the artificially propped up price of the Radeon 9700 Pro be falling". I have NEVER EVER seen a video card hang at near-release prices this long. I guess that is what a lack of serious competition and a demand that exceeds artifically restricted supply causes.

I hear the end of April, but ATI is having the same problems as NVidia did with the faster memory and .13 shrink die size.
Expect the fan to be much louder with a DDR2 setup.
Until they find a way to cool these chips properly without the noise, it may be a later release. I'm also waiting for this card as I want to get my moneys worth paying that much for a graphics card.
The 256meg version will be going for $499.00 but in reality around $479.00
It also depends upon how well Nvidias R35 does as they will be releasing a 256meg card also.
It will be a battle for price vs performance.

I hope Nvidia can get back to releasing a new product every six months. What a bummer the last year has been for them.
