When will 'The Rock' return to the WWF? It's not the same without him.

My guess is he won't be back for a while because the WWF doesn't exactly need him since there is no competition right now. I haven't watched wrestling in about a year, anyway.

No, wwf ratings are suffering because of all the injured wrestler...they need the Rock, I wouldn't be surprised if wwf pulls Rock from his time off early to help boost the ratings...look forward to seeing him soon on Raw. Remember..even tho there's no competition...they still need to retain their viewers.

I heard something about returing in SummerSlam but am not sure.

theonewithnoname - I dont blame him wanting to be an actor. He could probably earn in one movie the money he earns in a year with the WWF. His body will be exposed to less risks too, so he can look after himself better.

But he can't just be leaving yet?

He's on vacation and filming the Scorpion King (yes, its coming). WWF wrestlers get a long vacation for a few years of work. Look at HHH, or Undertaker. Gone for months and a big comeback. The Rock is currently on his vacation.

If Im not mistaken The Scropian King started filming in late March, it was put on the fast track because of the non exsistent writers strike. So that would be over by now. Its supposed to be out in Nov.

Hes being paid more to be an actor than a wrestler. I mean he is getting $5million for staring in the Scropian King, sure that has to do with his wrestling "fame" but if th Scropian King does well(ie: $100million or more) I wouldn't be suprised if he does leave wrestling for an "action movie career". If the Scropian King makes over $100million it would basically get him $5million per film.

*Summerslam in late August seems to be the date for his return to PPV. So I'd expect him to come back 2-3 weeks before then (after "Invasion&quot. It should be Rock/Austin III at Summerslam..

I could see Austin coming out on RAW or whatever, and he goes on preaching about how great he is and all, when the mic goes out, then comes back on and he says, "How dare you numskulls shut me off like that, that is disrespectul, my name is..", and you hear, "IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOUR NAME IS." Rock's music hits, he comes out, challenges Austin for a title shot, and you have your main event for Summerslam.

*Rock has three years left on his WWF contract. He'll decide then what he'll do in his "future".

*Wrestling is a brutal and tough business to be in, mentally and physically. Working 25-27 days a month and hardly ever coming home (he also has a kid coming) is enough to hamper anyone from wanting to go in the business. Plus the physicality he goes through on a nightly basis, and being that he is expected to perform every night, there might not be much of Rock in the next few years..

Not that acting is easy or anything, but by being able to work his own schedule in a way, and not having to suffer physically as he would have to in the WWF..acting would be a wiser choice.

I think the guy is great, but if he would try to give up wrestling and just do movies, I think he would flop. Scorpian King?? LOL

Nah, they're suffering because TV is already saturated with plenty of other comedy shows.

FULL RATINGS REPORT

by Dave Scherer Updated: 6/12/2001 3:20:45 PM

Raw did a 4.1 cable rating with a 6.7 share this week. That is down from the 4.3 that it did last week. The show did hours of 3.8 (6.0 share) and 4.4 (7.4). The show did not have one quarter hour that broke 5.0. In fact, the highest quarter was a 4.5. Quarter hours were as follows.
Hour 1: 3.3, 3.7, 4.1, and 4.0.
Hour 2: 4.5, 4.4, 4.3, and 4.2
Overrun: 4.5.

Weekend Ratings:

Livewire did a 0.7 cable rating with a 2.7 share,down from last week's 0.9.
Superstars did a 0.6 cable rating with a 2.0 share, down from last week's 0.9.
Heat did a 1.3 cable rating with a 2.4 share, down from last week's 1.4.
The Heat replay did a 0.7 cable rating with a 1.5 share, down from last week's 0.9.

The 6/7 edition of Smackdown did a 3.9 broadcast rating.

I don't know what's wrong, as Benoit looked awesome in the matches with Austin, got treated like a mega star by the Canadian crowds, and yet his crowd responses and ratings in the last two weeks have been horrible.

That's why they should SCRAPE HIM OFF. The crowd can get into him during a match when he busts out cool stuff like 10 german suplexes or a dive off the cage, but Angle got a bigger damn face pop during the entrances than Benoit did last night. It's not working, people aren't buying into Benoit as a top level babyface, take him out of the main events or turn him heel.

Jericho's doing okay so don't job him to Rhyno anymore and put him in some situations to look awesome against Austin like Benoit got. Badda bing, problem solved.

I'm wondering where all those who are to come out with their evidence of the ratings and stuff about why this isn't working, much like when Taker was on top. I've stated that if Benoit/Jericho got the push and things didn't improve, we'd hear nothing about it... and I was right. A bunch of people were talking about how Taker would get huge pops but the fans at home didn't care, much like WCW with Hogan. But now even the live audience fans don't care about Benoit, and yet nobody's suggesting that maybe something should change.

Don't get me wrong, I LIKE Benoit. I'm glad he's main eventing cause he's awesome. But if it was ANYBODY but Chris Benoit out there in main events with those piss-poor reactions, be it Taker or Rikishi or whoever... all we'd hear is that the WWF isn't listening to the fans and they're trying to push someone down our throats that we don't want and ENOUGH IS ENOUGH AND IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE. Are we hearing any of that? No. But the situation IS happening and something needs to be done about it.

And the dumbest part is that, instead of ADMITTING that this isn't really working, we're starting to see every little thing Benoit or Jericho do picked apart to try reasoning that they're being booked poorly and it's the WWF's fault. You can't even say anymore that "well, ratings were falling cause of the Taker stuff so this doesn't mean anything", cause they went UP last week and now they dropped again. FIVE WEEKS of Benoit and Jericho as the top babyfaces has translated to nothing.

Long story short, I hope Invasion is Austin vs. Bradshaw and that the ratings start going up every week just to see people's heads explode.

I don't see how The Rock is missed that much when you're getting matches like Angle vs. Benoit. That cage match on Monday night was way over the top. Those two guys are probably the only ones capable of doing such work, so why don't people appreciate them for it?

Angle is definitely proving that "real" (as in those with amateur backgrounds) wrestlers are some of the toughest SOBs walking the planet ...

The problem is all the crappy side attractions - come on, X Factor? Dudleys vs Hollys? That's dragging the whole show down. I change the channel when I have to put up with the crap storylines. Benoit is awesome - they just need to build him up a little more before giving him top rung with Stone Cold and the like.

It is a damn shame Benoit will NEVER be a top draw like Rock is. This isn't the Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels era where guys used to get over by, actual..wrestling. Not to say that Rock isn't capable of wrestling a good match and doesn't work his @$$ off every night, as he's shown he's capable of doing, but when you have a guy like Benoit who's trained his whole life and is as good in the ring as they come, but can't talk about candyasses and poontang like Rocky does.

That cage match was SOO awesome though. One of the best ever..
