I don't think Israel has much of an economic market with the folks to their east.
I think they have done some invading not long ago in Iraq. Think it was to do with a nuclear plant.

I don't think Peace can win out when we have folks hell bent on war.

I would hope so. The inflation adjusted value of world trade in 1913 was about $800 billion. In 2007 the rough value of world trade was $17 trillion.

Just as long as Winnar111 is not actually the victor, I'll be happy.

I don't think we will see another conflict of the scale of WWII though.

Their history has shown a willingness to use weapons of mass destruction and a tendency to lash out and overreact on the wrong targets. The American government scares me like no other right now.

Not very bright this one.

My money's on Russia, if there is one. But some kind of stand off is inevitable with Russia.

A civil war in America will be the catalyst for other nations to make moves that were previously unthinkable. That could very well be WW3.

An economic collapse of the US would definitely cause problems, think of the Soviet Union collapse, and sprinkle 300 million firearms around the place. We'll be a nation ruled by factions (if we aren't already), and with plenty of unemployed combat veterans, will make an interesting place.

The world cannot have another conventional war that big. We would all be carbon particles rather quickly.

I see a major conflict starting when/if a terrorist manages to denonate a WMD in a major metropolis -- particularly if it occurs in NYC, Washington, LA, or Chicago...or a major European city considered to be a global financial hub, rendering that city uninhabitable. This will be the final straw, the line in the sand that will be crossed, then the gloves will come off. Naturally, I believe said terrorist would likely be traced back to some Middle Eastern country -- Pakistan or Saudi Arabia, so WW3 would likely begin in the ME.

Really hope I'm wrong or not around to see it.

A world war where many nations are committed has to have two sides of near equal 'power' and resolve.
They'd have to be motivated by something, I think.
I can't imagine a war where only Iran would fend off the 'willing'. There would have to be some one who could see supporting Iran (assume Iran just cuz) furthered their agenda.

Not sure Genghis Khan is around anymore but I can see that group moving to war.

China, Russia, India, and Middle Eastern-bloc. The US will have collapsed into a puddle of quivering goo first.

China and US are too reliant on eachother for trade and resources - they would never start a World War. Most likely, would be on the same side.

If one were to start, it would be about where the last two started. The influx of Muslim migrants into Europe is already starting to test the system and the resolve of the native populations. Looks towards France or the Netherlands, two nations being over-run by a non-native culture that is very different from the traditional culture. The shift towards protectionism and xenophobia has already begun, and a weakening economic and social structure will accelerate this. WWIII will begin as a European civil war. This has been a cause of large wars in that region for more than 1000 years.

More similar to WWI than WWII, but the precursors are already in place.

Or, India and Pakistan. Pak would drop almost immediately, and their nukes may become questionable. This would almost certainly bring in the US and maybe Russia (they have as much to fear about rouge nukes as we do). Following that you would see Iran and some of the other Middle Eastern nations siding with Pak. Worst case, China would attack India, but they really do not have the drive or reasoning to do so. China would be smart to sit out and let everyone else beat on each other.

Even then, this conflict would not lead to a true world war, as most likely US, Russia, and India would be on the same side.
