When you buy a new GPU for gaming, what do you do with your old one?

I tend to give mine to family members, who are often running somewhat outdated hardware for gaming.

For example, they're all running semi-modern Core 2 Duos, but one has a X1650 Pro, another has a 6800 GT, and another has a 7900 GS. I'm working on getting my dead 8800 GTX working (oven method) so one of them can have an upgrade.

Depends. Sell some, but usually keep one around just in case of a failure. It doesn't have to be fast - just enough to power my desktop until the RMA process is complete.

The first couple I used in my parents' build and in my gf's but now that they are set I'm trying to recoup while they are still viable. Ebay normally does the trick. I would do the forums here but I get better prices at auction.

save it as a spare indefinitely or give to family member

got a V3 2000 PCI sitting in a drawer, a dead FX 5200LE PCI that I might bake one day and see if it works, a 7950GT that is in a PC my parents use for internet on their television, and a 4870 512 that I currently use

every situation is different. if its still a good card that has a lot of value then I will sell it. if its a modern low power card then maybe a family member may get it or I will keep it as a spare. if its too old and slow, as in my 6600 agp, then it will probably get chunked.

Save my original pci-e card as a spare. All subsequent cards sold. Heck I got only a few dollars shy of what I paid for my 4890 new selling it on ebay. Basically rented it for 5 months for about $10.

I usually put it in a secondary computer. Sometimes I just hold on to them, and sometimes I sell them.

Usually sell here to help feed my hobby of wasting money on unnecessary new computer parts.

I use it for for my articles for a while, then I sell it when it stops being relevant.

Joined Ebay in 2000 to sell my first card to help pay for the new one and I've been doing it ever since. It helps a great deal when you don't have deep pockets. Lately I've been going with XFX because I can transfer the Lifetime Warranty to a new owner and get more money when I sell the card.

Keep it in case I nuke my current card. Normally I am a "every other generation" card buyer (aka I went from a 3870 to a 5770 card this last round), and the cards tend to have not much value left.

FS/FT usually
The current one I'm replacing though, its going to be given to my folks most likely as they're due for an upgrade of the entire system (currently AGP) I do have 2 PCI-E cards just collecting dust currently. Should sort that out soon.

Usually sell to offset the price of a new one. Lately, ive been saving some really cheap ones as a spare.

Unfortunately, I have 3 sitting on the shelf now and dont know what to do with them. However, they are all very low power, (HD2600pro, HD4650, 9600GT that runs really hot), so I doubt they are worth selling. If I get a second computer perhaps I will get a cheap one with integrated graphics and install the HD4650 or 9600GT. The 9600 GT runs at 95 deg C under load though and has a really noisy fan. I should have returned it I guess.

most of my family member only surf the internet so for them new gcard is quite wasted, they simply don't feel any difference. so I tend to sell it off on ebay.

FS/T or ebay. XFX allows me to sell it for a better price/quicker because of the transferrable warranty.
