I did not know that was even a thing, I never noticed such lines.

I do recall something similar at a theme park, one of those haunted houses where stuff pops at you, was with a friend and we're just walking slowly through it. I decided to see if I can feel the sensors on the floor and they were super obvious, basically a big indentation in the metal. So I casually jumped over it and let my friend get the brunt of the scary thing while I was ahead. I thought it was funny at the time.

Our banana seated bikes didn't do it most of the time if we just rode over them, but if we pulled a wheelie, then it worked.

I do believe that I might have run over them with my bicycle a time or two but then they (full service stations) mysteriously disappeared. I last time I used one was in Leavenworth, KS back in the late 80's because I was feeling lazy that day and didn't want to step out into the cold. It wasn't long afterwards that I started seeing completely automated service stations popping up out west. That was a strange concept to just pull up to a self service pump and use a credit card to get gas without anyone tending to the place.

Yes it's weird how some were more sensitive than others.
Could be a combination of hose length, humidity average and how tight the clamps were at the end where the bolt was shoved in the hose acting like a stopper! If they Permatex'd it, it's gonna ding if a crow lands on it.

The bad kids would lock their back wheels tight (thanks to coaster brakes) and try to drag the hose. Karma would get them when they were distracted and crashed into a dumpster and get launched into a pile of trash full of rats.

I still remember when it was $.17 at the base gas station and then my parents got upset when it passed $.20. $.25 made them ditch the big Buick for a 4 cylinder VW that was really too small for the family. The oil crisis opened the door up to the imports and the domestics still haven't recovered from it. Back then GM had like 54% of the domestic car market to themselves not they've got 15% with Ford around 13% followed by Toyota at around the same amount. Chrysler isn't even an American company anymore in the fourth position with a pile of foreign makers on their heels.
