I still remember when it was $.17 at the base gas station and then my parents got upset when it passed $.20. $.25 made them ditch the big Buick for a 4 cylinder VW that was really too small for the family. The oil crisis opened the door up to the imports and the domestics still haven't recovered from it. Back then GM had like 54% of the domestic car market to themselves not they've got 15% with Ford around 13% followed by Toyota at around the same amount.
