When's fx-57 coming to town?

Anyone got any idea when is fx57 coming to town? And in what flavor? as in 130u or 90u?

I think they'll stick with the ClawHammer core at 130nm SOI, though I personally hope that they'll go for *maybe* the Winchester core.

Its scheduled for Q2 05 and I think will be a Venice core.

You haven't heard the news yet?

FX-57, 3800+, 4000+ and 4200+ are all movign to 90nm process.

4000+, 4200+ and FX-57 are all gonna be the same core on 90nm. 1MB L2 cache

3800+ is going to be venice 90nm. 512KB L2 cache.

anyways, the FX-57 will definitely be venice (or san diego i guess). 2.8GHz is a pretty tall order on the 130nm process, and usually an FX can reliably do at least 1 speed grade above its rating, i.e. FX-51s can hit 2.4GHz, FX-53s can hit 2.6GHz, FX-55s can hit 2.8GHz, and FX-57 should hit at least 3GHz. 3GHz is just not gonna happen on an air cooled clawhammer core.

That's only a 200 mhz OC. With an aftermarket cooler and good case airflow, the FX57 should be able to hit 3 ghz reliably. Or so I would imagine . . .

Yeah the 55's on solid cooling can hit 3ghz fairly reliably, so I would not be suprised to see many more athlon 64's over 3ghz in the future, especially with the endless possibilities that come from dreaming about the new cores. mmmm, I want 3ghz.....

They are also introducing new Revs of the 90nm core. With SSE3 and SSOI (Strained Silicon On Insulator). These chips should easily hit 3.0GHz, and I imagine even further [dream] 3.2GHz A64 [/dream] .

FX57 will be launched in late May and be available 2 weeks thereafter bringing availability to the masses in early June.

That's my guess...

However, I hope it turns out that I'm completely wrong. I would love for the FX57 to be avail. in April.
