Listening to NPR. Republicans in House scrambling to pass a bill to fix this issue which does not require a bill to fix. Obviously want to get this issue off the news asap and claim they fixed it. The Democrats saying this is on vile one. No legislation needed.

So the House will pass a bill and the Dems in Senate will be in the damn you do damn you don’t position. In the end everyone will claim victory nonetheless.

Question is, what were the vile ones gang thinking? How could this have been of any benefit to them? They are the true believers. They don’t seem to care about the political cost

You do understand, don't you, that you only believe what you believe about Hilary and Bill because of 3 decades plus of directed, organized propaganda campaigns against them, right? Do you understand that, or not?
I believe what I believe because the Clintons are unworthy of respect. The bed they sleep in is of their own making. I don’t understand why you or others rationalize on their behalf.

Not a single piece of evidence for the thousands of conspiracy nonsense "Crimes" that they supposedly committed, but the relentless repetition of the same bullshit claims is all that matters.
In the era of #metoo, Bill Clinton is dropping in stature and respect, even amongst political scientists and historians. Hillary fumbled at the goal line, twice.

You have a voting base that is thoroughly convinced that only accusations matter, as long as they are accused enough, and enough other voters that have simply heard nothing else, so it must be true enough.
Al Franken likes this

You're one of them.
No, I am of the opinion that Clinton was uniquely qualified to lose against Trump, and I was correct in that assertion.

It’s pretty simple I think. Republicans don’t actually mind separately interning children, at least a critical mass of them don’t mind. They are pulling a similar move here to what they did with the debt ceiling a few years ago. Senate Democrats already universally support a bill that would end this practice that Republicans have refused to even consider. If ending this policy was the true goal it could be over today, but that’s not the true goal.

The bill the Republicans support is ending this policy AND enacting a bunch of additional immigration restrictions that Republicans want but couldn’t pass otherwise. That’s called hostage taking. The only answer to it is to refuse to negotiate under any circumstances because all giving in does is make them search for more hostages to take. Obama learned this the hard way in 2011.

The good news here is that republicans appear to have miscalculated and this policy is far more unpopular than they expected.

You’ll find retuning to catch and release is even more unpopular.

Where would here be, 1.5 years into the administration of President Trump who was elected on a platform of cracking down on illegal immigration.

You mean the guy that won the presidency despite losing the overall vote by millions? Truly a statement of popularity for his positions, haha.

Don’t be silly, the old system never came close to the 2/3rds disapproval of this system and the disapproval it did have was split between it being too lenient and others who thought it was too harsh.

People hate this position and you know it as well as I do.

None of them wanted to get on this one for some reason...

That's reading the tea leaves, extrapolating events & ... blaming the Democrats, of course.

No now they are saying they will pass just a narrow bill in couple of days for the children issue alone. They are desperate to get this off the media

I hope that’s the case! That’s not what they were saying earlier but it would be a welcome change.

Like I said it appears Trump and co. miscalculated as to how much people would hate this policy. They took the wrong hostage.

When asked if the bill had previsions in it to go after businesses, the Republican congressman said no.

Republican politicians play their base as fools and simply throw them some red meat occasionally to keep their base coming back for more.

Why deal with the issues when you can take their outage and turn it into automatic turn out at the polls?

They do squirm a lot when their feet get put to the fire. They've just been shitty over immigration for a long time & still are. There's no other way to win a primary, is there? It's getting to be harder & harder to win a general election that way, however. People are getting sick of their shit, of promising solutions they have no intention of ever delivering.

Even if they do pass a bill it puts them at odds with the Precious, the He who could shoot somebody, and that's trouble they don't want, either.

Fuck 'em. They're some of the biggest self serving jerks on the planet who've preyed on the dark side of human nature for decades.

Here's a question that could make another thread. I'm not interested in your voter-registration particularly, but people could answer honestly with or without it.

The Traitor-in-Chief appears daily on the news channels. After 5 minutes of listening to him, hearing him inhale with that sneering sound and spit in everybody's face, does it feel like a hard slap on the cheek?

Do you come away from it feeling resentment? Do you feel frustrated in your ability to express your rage about it? Do you "stuff your feelings" and just try to get on with your day?

I have to object to the idea of going after businesses at this time. There are ~8M illegals in the workforce, many with young Dreamers & American citizen children who depend on them as breadwinners. ~10% of the population of greater LA is undocumented & they're probably not just going away.

It's too late for this right wing fantasy of making America White again to ever work. They can't just say that, of course, but it's what they want. We're not a country who can do that any more. Not enough white babies, ya know?

Dunno why they think it matters, anyway. The right wing billionaires financing the GOP don't care what color we are because we're all just losers to them.

That's like the difference between Hitler's SS and his SA. It's been clear to me for a long time that the party organizers spin all sorts of distortions to win the votes of the dismally ignorant, the disastrously illogical and the self-pitying resentful.

Are you unaware that the D party is financed by billionaires too? Do you think they care about the color of anyone’s skin?

They sure as Hell haven't held Dems hostage to massive tax cuts for themselves. They don't demand cuts to the benefits that all too many Americans need, either. They don't demand middle class seppuku on the altar of greed.

Its the old classic game of imperfect information. Your next move will not win the game it just has to be better. Dems perfect? Hell no. Better than current iteration of GOP? Hell yes.

I know where the Democrats are. Cryin' Chuck made it clear yesterday that he doesn't actually give a shit about these kids but he does like having an issue to exploit for the mid-terms. Cryin' Chuck won't unite these kids with their families if, as part of it, catch and release goes away. No reducing illegal immigration on his watch, no sirree. Americans murdered by illegals make him smile (and might even chubb the old coot up too). Cryin' Chuck doesn't want his parties name on anything related to this, he wants an executive order.

Cryin' Chuck doesn't think voters are bright enough to understand what he's doing. Keep digging Chuck. We can still see the top of your head in that hole you're making for your party.
