Good Afternoon Mr. Bayard & Everyone.
Mr. Bayard: Did you leave your PC on while you were away? Very recently, M$ download some new Realtek LAN drivers, and maybe that is the source of your problem. Can your G/F's PC see the router? If so, does the router have a software utility built into the firmware that allows you to release and renew your IP connection? If so, try doing that. Are you running a virus protection program, like NIS 2008, that has personal firewall settings that have to be adjusted on some machines to allow network functions? If so, that may also be the source of your problem.
If all else fails, then a reinstall of the OS may be in order. However, in case it's not the OS, do you have an spare drive that you can use to initially reinstall the OS. If so, use that, since it's just a few minutes to install Vista 32 on a rig as fast as yours, and you'll know right away if it's the OS, without having to totally wipe out your existing install to find out.
If none of that works, then the NICs on the board may have crapped the bed on you. But I'd try some other stuff before I chucked the board through the RMA process.
Hope that helps. Best regards to everyone. TheBeagle
