Good afternoon all!

Yes Mr. Beagle,
I have seen the other thread and read about the issue's with it. I have a nice router(wireless Lynksys 2.4Ghz boardband) not sure if this will play nice with my set up, but will try it as I have not yet. I have it so I can hook the living room computer up to the other eventually, or just one to the other without wires.
I'll keep an eye on that thread. While I have you, want to ask as I 'm having issues Wondering if my south bridge is over heating as I had an old 5500 ultra fan on it cause I had to remove the heat pipe for the water cooling. I have now just put a heat sink on it and will put a nice large fan on it after reassembly. As I have put water blocks on the GPU'S, and the pump was so strong it collapsed the tubbing for the loop .
I have better tubbing coming, then I'll put a 120MM blowing between the two card for the south bridge also.
I had a hard time there for a while over clocking and thinking that is the reason why(not sure) but can't be too far off of it either.I could not get the FSB past 450, or maybe this is a limit not sure?
Any help..... Thank you!
regards:beer:

What is the authoritative x48 forum thread anyways? Is it at Anandtech, or is it elsewhere? I know that boards generally develop long 50+ page threads on some forum or another, which increases its mass due to a high Google ranking almost like gravity.

Good morning all!
@ Mr. Eatery,
Good to see you! I would assume us but not certain as there are others, TT has one.
Xtremesystems has a forum for bios and info but not many supporting it right now either. Speaking of support.........
@Mr. Gigabyte Colin,
if you have info on why they do not annually update there BIOS support for there MB'S I'd really like to know? Just two bios in 6months does not cut it really, and the second one is a beta to boot.
@ Everybody else,
I know there are four or five bios-es floating around, would someone be so kind as to post a link to one of the newer ones?
Any and all help is great ,
good day all

Wondering what the average turnaround time of the exchange of the 680sli takes to get the X48? Being my primary board, and the major hassle of having to build from the ground up with a different vendor's design really sucks for the loss of time.

Does anyone know if it's possible to put down a deposit so they can send me the motherboard first so I don't lose any downtime?

Afternoon all!
I do not think they will as a few have tried this but RMA is not in the business of dealing with money is why I guess. Turn around is like 3 days plus shipping.more or less about 7 business days or so.
Good day all

In my experience, it took a week. A couple days shipping it in from the East Coast, verification took about a day, and then a couple days shipping it back.

Hello Me. Toti,
And welcome to the X48! You will be very happy, the bios is a little different as it has a lot of setting for timings when over clocking. Depending on your chip? This board wants to scream, so the bigger the better.
I love mine, though I have been down with a bad pump. Over clocked with a quad6600 and two 3870X2's I hit 22,090 in 3Dmark06 under vista. The ATI driver seem to like vista better. What GPU'S do you have?
Also @Mr. Blazer I had the skews in my second two setting from the top up to 100 each so you know. Once I found my over clock then I messed with them. Guess I'll have more time now to over clock as work took away one of our days.

good day all!

Hey Toti,
Sorry forgot, see so many systems visit so many forums................ You should be happy with that setup though I would suggest getting some 1066 mem as then the over clocking options are more open for you to use.
With a good over clock you should do well with that GPU on this board though you can only run one, unless you get the 9800X2 GPU as it runs in one PCI-E slot.
DO not install the power saver as many have had trouble with it, as soon as you get it running flash the bios in windows under there program to the newest one.I used it and it worked out good, though doing it in the bios is also a option too.
Still waiting on a better bios, I hear over at XS (xtremesystems) there are more bios out there not sure where? Every time I ask nobody replies.............
Good day all:beer:

Thks jaggerwild
I will let know when my rig is ready and running.
So far I am running this on GA-P35 DS4 and it is good so far.
I have another cooler on the CPU and also different mem on the P35 mb.
But I want to try this GA-X48 DQ6 with the new cooler and the mem.

Good evening all!
Well my board shall soon be on its way back to Mr. Gary at Gigabyte RMA as it will not maintain stability at or around a 445 FSB, a month ago there was no doubt weather it could do this or not. But now it will just randomly reboot, Bsods, general instability issues. Also it's not an OS issue I it does it under Vista 64 or Windows 32.
I guess I'll try some different Realtech drivers for the LAN connection as I think it could be related(not certain). Also may try different sound drivers, The board will make a noise when it Bsods (not sure what it is).
Any ideals are all welcome!!!

Good evening all

Good Evening Everyone.

Gigabyte has released the FINAL F7 BIOS for the X48-DQ6 board. It is available on the GB web site (Taiwan). I have installed it and so far - so good. I'll let you know of any issues if they should develop, but for right now it looks like a GO for the F7 BIOS revision!

Best regards to everyone. TheBeagle

Good Morning Mr. Beagle!
Yeah I was thinking of trying another bios, I see @station drivers there are a few from other country's there. Not sure witch to try to use? I was gonna revert back to the original for now see if that helps.
Thanks!

Good Morning All!
I keep getting raid errors or the likes there of upon boot, I'm leaning toward a southbridge problem here. Not sure if it's heat, or drivers but would like to try and pin point it here.
I get errors from both raids Giga-raid and my Intel raid, so what drivers are you all using and what if any issues are you having?
I'm gonna try different ones see if this helps me. I'll repost the results soon, I need a working solution here as this is very frustrating...........
Good day to all!

Have you tried running your rig @stock? It would be interesting to know whether your oc settings have anything to do with all these problems you are experiencing. Besides, if your rig runs fine @stock then I don't think that you'll be eligible for an RMA.

Thanks Mr. Blazer,
Yeah stock I'm mostly OK. So your right there, begining to think it is my North bridge cooler. As it is tiny compared in size to the chip. So I'm gonna order a better one see if that helps, will report back my findings.
Again Thanks!

Good Morning Mr. Jagger & Everyone.

Mr. Jagger: I believe that Mr. Blazer has a valid point. As we all know, ALL motherboards will fail, sooner or later (usually sooner), if you push them too far. May I respectfully suggest that you might have slid a bit over the bleeding edge and are now feeling the effects of that step too far?

In reality, it's probably quite a testament to the thermal tolerance of the X48 board that you were able to get as far as you have reported. Might I suggest that approximately 3.8 GHz, with very good cooling, is about the STABLE limit for a Q6600 (G0). Much beyond that, the types of errors that you are reporting are inevitable, not to mention stressing the heck out your board components. Just some thoughts on the probable cause and effect.

Best regards to everyone. TheBeagle

I'm trying to install the drivers for the Intel ICH9R southbridge (otherwise known as the Intel Matrix Driver) and on both the installer from Intel and the installer from Gigabyte, I am getting errors saying that my system does not meet the minimum requirements. Anybody know what is going on? Do these drivers not like being installed on XP SP3 32 bit?

Good Morning Mr. EofP & Everyone.

Mr. EofP: Did you download the right set of drivers for 32 bit OS? If so, the SP3 may have some effect on the checking routine that new drivers undertake before they install.

May I suggest that you go to the Intel web site and check there for your storage drivers. There may also be some information on SP3 compatibility on the Intel site as well. Good luck with you problem, but there's likely a resolution out there for you if you search for it.

Best regards to everyone. TheBeagle
