Where are the thinkpad helix reviews

The Lenovo thinkpad HELIX seemed to be the most impressive of the hybrid lot out there. But still there is no proper review in any of the major sites including AT. Why is that? The Lenovo site details the product along with the price.
Has anyone seen any review? I have seen a few user reviews but they are not much detailed for obvious reasons.

Or is it Lenovo who is trying to kill this product in favour of a haswell version since that will make more sense.

Review sites generally only review items that they personally want to buy (so have a reason to spend money) or when the manufacture sends them a sample copy for testing. If review sites didn't get a Helix from Lenovo, then they're not going to be posting reviews for it.

So could it mean that lenovo is not sending any because they are not satisfied or confident about their own product? Or is there some other reason like they don't want this product to get much attention in favor of the next version?

Probably bad timing on Lenovo's part. Helix is really expensive and it's arriving on the eve of the next gen Intel Haswell processors.

Yeah, most likely.. Anyway I wasn't considering buying one. Partly becaise I don't need one right now and partly because it's too expensive for a intel hd4000 graphics. But if they come up with a Haswell version with intel iris (GT3e) graphics I would be game.

Thanks for the responses though.

I've seen a couple reviews. I really want one because I want a decent convertible with digitizer which is tough to find really. With Haswell around the corner it's hard to recommend but if it wasn't for that I would probably pony up the dough for it quickly.

The Helix has had really poor timing on its release. It was possible to buy it from resellers a good month before Lenovo made it available on its own website.

If you can wait a year, I would definitely hold off for a Haswell version. Heat can be a big issue on the Helix if you play games or do anything that pushes the processor.

Heat, no onboard ethernet, no eraser on included stylus and a bit too wide(screen). Those are my big issues on this device.

Actually The Verge just posted one a couple of days ago here. Personally I found it overly critical on the design and posted a lengthy comment

I have the Core i7 8 GB RAM 256 GB SDD model and have to say I love it, I rarely touch my iPad now and drag the Helix everywhere. Yes its heavier, but I found I was only using my iPad in conjunction with the Logitech Ultrathin keyboard and decided to stop compromising and go back to a "real" computer. The battery life is great, but I plan to upgrade next year if Lenovo brings out a "Helix 2" with Haswell; from what I've seen the Haswell hype is real and the Helix would be awesome with that processor/chipset.

I want it. It is the tablet I've been waiting for years. I even convinced myself that I can swallow the high price, as it may be worth it when it includes a 256GB SSD and 3 year warranty.

But it is way late to the show. If it was available at the beginning of the year, maybe up to April, I would have bought it for sure. (Same as for the Surface Pro, or the Ativ SmartPC Pro... if only they were available here... they still aren't, even today. I don't get how such big name companies can totally ignore Eastern Europe.)

Today, Helix is at last possible to buy here, but I've decided to wait. They delayed it too much, they'll have to be punished Not 100% sure of this yet, I'm tempted to go for it every day and I have to keep talking myself out of it... the Haswell reworks may end up delayed more than a year again, if the trend from recent years continues. It feels like there is a conspiracy to never make the device that I want. But I think I'll manage to hold myself, wait and see if some manufacturers finally redeem themselves in this round.

So the race for my money is still on. I'll buy the first Haswell HD5000 FullHD Wacom-enabled detachable tablet anyone introduces. (Iris Pro preferred, but I'm not gonna postpone my buy waiting for it much if non-pro contenders become available. I may even compromise with a HD4400/HD4600 if worse comes to worst) Or maybe Razer's Edge (Project Fiona), if they come earlier and have an active digitizer and the accessory prices aren't too ridiculous, despite the sucky resolution.

I've had my Helix for a couple weeks now and have completely dropped using any other device. For both work and home. Simply amazing device that I can't live without now. I've owned just about every tablet released and many high end laptops and wouldn't go back to any one of them. Great job Lenovo.

Win 8.1 is a huge improvement too! I did have a couple hiccups installing it but all in all its great.

how's the heat problems?

Heard mixed things about them (some units are bad, some are okay, some are better after applying BIOS updates/fixes/driver patches)

Have a Dell m1330, can't go any worse than that laptop (especially since the CPU is on the screen which doesn't touch the lap/desk)

does the battery in the keyboard heatup a lot while in use/charging?

What heat problems? I've used and abused my machine unlike most people could dream of and haven't had a problem.

No problems to speak of on my unit. I did install the latest BIOS on day 1 though.

When charging and on my lap I did feel it get warm one time but I rarely have to charge this when using. Battery life is amazing for a full scale PC in a tablet form.

Like I said earlier, I would never go back to ANY other machine now. Simply amazing.

So we (and I'm sure a lot others) share the same thoughts. When will the other vendors get it. All they seem to care about now is high res displays with under-powered SoCs, stupidass designs {the helix unarguably (or arguably) has the perfect convertible/detachable design} and a digitizer in a tablet form factor is SERIOUSLY underrated and I am even ready to pay a 100$ more for a better digitizer-pen package from Wacom. I haven't got to see the helix or the surface pro, but the ones on the galaxy note devices lag by a few moments which does bug me. (Any comparisons?)

And I'm ok with the iris 5000. If I remember correctly, iris pro 5200 is a $650 part, and is available in a quad core 47ish W TDP, So not gonna happen in a tablet form factor.
Hope the other OEMs get this and we can see some competitive pricing.

Has anyone had any experience with the Samsung ativ smart pc pro yet? It's a bit cheaper but does not have a battery in the keyboard dock...WTH Samsung????

think I took a quick look at it when browsing at B&H. wasn't really impressed by the build quality (vs helix), and it didnt' have 8GB ram, so didn't look too long
