Anyone know a place where I can order a sony trinitron online? Looking for a 17 or 19 inch trinitron. Love those flat screens!

If not online what stores carry them? I haven't found one yet that does...

There are lots online.

Trinitron is just the tube. Diamondtron is the same, but made by Mitsubishi.

They are over rated anyway.

They aren't overrated. I love them and anything else just doesn't add up. Can you give me an example of where I can get one and a place that has at least decent prices?

All the one's I've seen are over-rated.

I just got a Cornerstone p1460 19" shadow mask. It's beautiful!

The colors beat the hell out of any of the Trinitron's I've seen (Viewsonic, Dell, KDS, Sony, ADI), and the text display is much clearer.

It also has a nearly flat screen.

Funny you mention that. I just recently tried a Cornerstone p1460 and it was side by side with a Viewsonic PF790. I really didn't like the Cornerstone though it may have been a faulty monitor. All the factory presets were small, badly pincushioned images that required extensive adjustments and after all of the the screen looked murky (like there was dust on it) and the colors washed out compared to the Viewsonic. It was no sharper either. I guess IQ is in the eye of the beholder or else not all monitors of the same model look the same.

Sounds like you where running the p1460 off one of its preset resolutions. What resolution refresh rate where you using?

What's up?? I didn't know you were a member around here. I LOVE my monitor!!

It took awhile to get all setup (I love all the adjustments that are available), but now it's looking fine! 1600x1200@85hz!!

Thanks for all your (and Greebe's) help choosing it!

I have the 19 inch from Dell. I know it has the Dell logo on it but I figured it was worth the 150 bucks I saved. If you wait Dell runs a 20-25% off Dell branded upgrades. I got mine for $382 shipped back in October.

Where can I actually go to see a Cornerstone? I've never seen one around, but I hear enough about them to give them consideration. Didn't see at BestBuy or PCClub, might they have at Fry's, Circuit City, CompUSA (Of course I wouldn't buy from these placees, I just need to see a display example!) What model would be your topline 19" (pref aperture grill)?

We do not sell through retail channels. By selling factory direct over the internet we can keep our prices low and pass the saving on to you.

Link to our top of the line 19 $289Aperturre grill monitor.

Why do you prefer an aperture grill?? Just curious.

The Cornerstone p2460 is the top end Aperture Grill. $289, 1600x1200@85hz, .25mm Dot Pitch

I don't know where you can see one live.

Bleh, don't like not being able to see the monitor in person. Where is your factory located and do you have a showroom or willcall? From what I've noticed and read the aperture grill tends to give better color and brilliance. I'll be using the monitor/system mostly for gaming, so maximum crispness isn't quite as important as solid colors and not having to radically adjust gamma. I will be using the monitor for plenty of text work too, so crispness is of course important; but I'll probably have another system for that sort of thing.

Our factories are in the far east, Taiwan, China, Japan etc. No we do not have a show room nor do we do will calls. Our offices are in Fremont, Ca our warehouse are on the east coast and southern CA.

We offer a 30 day no questions asked return polocy with NO restocking fee.

At least where I live non of the retail stores sell any of the high end monitor brands.

Good Luck

The color saturation on my p1460 is BETTER than any Trinitron I've seen...plus you get the crisp text on top of that.

If I had seen it and not known it was a shadow mask, I would have sworn it to be a Trinitron due to the colors.

Could just be my quality Matrox G400, though

I would go with Dell.. Their CS is a PITA to get a hold of, but their exchange policy is top notch. Believe me.. If you ship a monitor, you are probably going to need it. I have never gotten a "good" monitor on the first try. Maybe it's just my luck, but I would not go with a place that will make you pick up return shipping if there is a problem.

Trinitron/Diamondtron tubes are not overrated! I think they are great! I've seen a couple of the so-called best Shadow Mask monitors and they can't hold a candle to the AG when it comes to color vibrancy and translucency. I sort of compare it to looking at a slide vs a print. The slide is more 3d and the print is sort of flat looking by comparision.

Just my thoughts..

Amish,

Shall I trust your words and buy a Cornerstone P1460 rather than Samsung 900NF as I originally planned?

I'll be running it on a Matrox G450, btw.
