I need to register a domain name for myself, but more importantly, for our local Volunteer Fire Department.
We'd like to be able to register .net, .org, .com so no matter what anyone enters it will go to us. Here is some info we'll need:
1. At least a .COM domain. CHEAP. Remember Vol FD's don't have a lot of money.
2. We'd like to be able to direct our e-mail to Chief@VOLFD.Com (whatever the .com address is).
I've been looking at HomeStead Professional for a site, but it's about $240 - $360 a year with a $400 set up fee (it comes with domain and two e-mail addresses). That alone could get us some much needed equipment instaed of spending $100's on set up fees. I can open a Homestead Personal Account and still use the Vol FD on it (not for profit), but I'm dumb as far as registering a domain name. I found Gandi.com, but it's located in France and am unsure how they operate (they charge $10 a year).
Any help would be appreciated. Just an FYI. We'd like to be able to do this as cheaply as possible, because we'd like to buy a digital camera. We are now looking at buying a new fire truck, ($300,000+ for a basic model) because ours is slowly dying. So there is not much $$$ left over.
Thanks.....
