Where did all the 4850x2's disappear to?

Seriously, a couple weeks ago newegg had about 8 different options and you could get one for as low as $200 after a $20 MIR. Now they only have 2 from Sapphire and start at $260. Same deal everywhere else. My 8800GT bit the dust and I need a new card. =/

There has always only been two options for the 4850x2. Sapphire is the only company that makes them, and they have two versions, a 1GB (512MB per GPU) and a 2GB (1GB per GPU). You must've been looking at a different card a couple weeks ago.

ATI's card partners are apparently resisting the price cuts because they don't want to hurt their margins, and ATI's cards are already price-competitive with nVidia at their current prices. Still, you can find a 4850 for as low as $120 after MIR and a 4870 for as low as $155 after MIR on Newegg. IIRC, ATI's "price drop" was going to be done with MIR's, so it looks like at least a couple of their partners are cooperating with it, but it doesn't look like Sapphire is one of them.

I doubt the 4850x2 is going to see a price cut. It is still a great value at its price range and with regular rebates it sees around the net it can be an even greater deal.

And kikass is right, there have only been two 4850x2s, a 1 and 2GB model.

Nope. You must've been looking at a different card and got confused. The 4850x2 is Sapphire's baby.

According to anandtech, yes. I'm still casting about looking for other recent benchmarks that show the same thing, not that I don't believe anandtech, I just like confirmation.

Pretty much. Beat bang for the buck when it comes to performance. Assuming you have no issues and run most games that don't have any crossfire issues. Most of the issues with the card seem to be resolved since the 9.2's so there should be little worry in picking one up.
