The 4.26s provide better IDE performance and enables ATA100 in Win2k, I'd say its better for Win2k.

Disk performance is definitely better under Win2K with the bustmaster drivers (580_3011) available on the same page. These are not proven as being completely stable, however, and you also need to be aware that you may have problems with CD burning unless you use Easy CD Creator 4.03/Direct CD 3.03.

Does anyone have the problem of IDE drives appearing as SCSI drives in Win2K?

Does anyone have problems in Win Me?

Don't get me started on those 4.26 drivers. I had to reinstall Win2k twice to figure out the problem..... It locked up every other time I rebooted the machine, at exactly the same spot.

In Win2K the 4.26 can cause problems with DVD and CDRW drives since it makes it think everything is SCSI. Promise does the same thing but they recommend you dont put CD drives on their cards.... with the VIA chipsets you dont totally have that choice... I installed 4.26 and my CDRW didnt work, I just ran setup again and told it to uninstall the busmaster drivers and it worked fine.

Ahh shiznats... I saw that they were changed to SCSI, but didn't really think I would have any problems. Haven't tried out my DVD yet. Guess it won't be working right huh? And my TDK burner will only work with Adaptec EZ Cd creator now. Nero gives me an IDE/SCSI problem...

By the way, I have the 4.25's installed... so what the heck are we gonna do now???

when I tryed to uninstall the 4.26 busmaster driver it still didn't work
I had to totally wipe my Win2000 install and reinstall everything

I currently dont have any VIA drivers installed and I cant tell a difference. Games, DVDs, everything work fine. Are these thing really that important?

Im a little scared to install the 4.25a drivers because I dont want to go through the reinstall process again.

I just got my Tbird system up using a MSI K7T Pro2 w/ a Promise FastTrack 100 raid controller. I installed Win2K, then Liveware! 3.0, then the 4.26's and everything is perfect. I am not sure why so many of you are having problems.

I downloaded them from viahardware.com

my dvds didn't work using a DXR3 card with the Hollywood drivers when using the 4.26
reinstalled everything and got rid of the 4.26s and all my movies work fine.

funny thing is that when the 4.26s were on here I could watch one of my DVDs. The Whole Nine Yards played fine, I dont understand it.

I went to ad/remove programs and uninstalled the via IDE busmaster driver and rebooted, now everything is OK.

John:

You mean you bought your CUSL2-C just to wait for the K7T Pro2A to arrive?
What are you going to do with the CPU and mobo?
