Such as the ones with visible neck tatoos, sleeves, behind the ears, and around the eyes. I saw one guy with tear drop tattoos and something scribbled on his forehead.

Where do these people work? Who employs them? Some factory working way in the back? Tattoo parlor? Creative work?

Of course they won't get great paying jobs. No person in their right mind would hire someone that looked like that to represent their company unless it had to do something with tattoo's or young people. I just think those people are stupid but hey, they are free to follow whatever trends they want cus that's all it is, a trend.

I have a friend who runs the trouble ticketing system at Amazon.com and he's covered with tattoos pretty much everywhere that's visible, other than his face. Super nice guy too, good at his job.

I'm guessing this gentleman wasn't employed in the traditional sense. Probably a purveyor of high-quality agriculture products.

They work for us.

And by that I mean we pay them with our tax dollars via welfare.

Most of the people I've met with full tattooing(not just random prison crap), are some of the smartest, most insightful people I've met. I'd have more confidence in them than the average ATOTer ;^)

Folks living on either coast tend to have a skewed sense of perspective with regards to what keeps America running. Think 'Dirty Jobs' and then realize that the thousands of cube monkeys are in the minority. The majority of workers idea of 'business casual' is jeans and a tee shirt.

Yay for putting everyone in a box, life is so much easier when we generalize rather than actually putting effort into realizing that everyone is unique from each other.

I work at a Fortune 50 company, and the director of Media Services (around 50 y.o.) is practically covered head to toe with tattoos, has multiple piercings and looks like a biker with an attitude.

In reality, he is one of the nicest guys I know. Drives a souped up pick up truck some days, and abrand new Benz on others.

Maybe people really shouldnt "judge a book by its cover"

Im guilty too.. For the two years I didnt know who he was whenever I passed him in the office I wondered to myself what kind of menial job he does. I always imagined mailroom or maintenance.

Interesting thread is interesting.

Normal ATOT procedure would be the conservative majority steps out. This one must have been presented differently or the demographic has changed.
AT, and IT generally self-selects for conservative rule-followers, this is not a bad thing.
As a budding shrink, I'd like to point out that people are able to tattoo themselves wildly because society has created a space of acceptance for this behavior. 50 years ago they would have been relegated to freak-shows, this is not the case anymore and so the behavior has increased to the degree that society, as a whole, permits it.

Change is the only constant. There is nothing new under the sun.

I've seen some engineers covered in tattoos who work at very respectable companies. Its not the norm, but you do it see every now and then.

we've got a lot of tattooed people working for my company (web hosting). the people whose arms and legs are really inked up just wear pants and long-sleeves whenever they have to interact with clients face-to-face.

once you get facial tattoos, though, that's like you're officially done with normal society.

Probably work as chefs/cooks, mechanics, landscapers, masons, pre-school teachers, etc are a few that come to mind (j/k about the last one)

Of course these are all stereotypes and there are exceptions to every rule.

Funny you ask... The property manager of my apartment has tattoos all over her chest and arms, but normally wears a buttoned long sleeve shirt in the office. I'm still not sure if she does her job well or not; there's obviously a LOT of incompetence around this place, but of course everyone passes the buck so there's no telling where the problems are. But she is, at least, a decent people person.

There's also a "handyman" that works maintenance here. He's about 20, covered face to toe in ugly tattoos (one of which is the state of Oklahoma on his cheek), and seems to be both a useless employee and dumber than a box of rocks. He also rides a bike with pegs on both axles (probably because he has no car and/or license).
