You dont need more than 18awg speaker wire. Unless you are running extremely long lengths, or 1-2ohm speakers. Very doubtfull. Any wire you can find will work. Dont be fooled by thinking that spending more on wire will make for better sound, it simply wont, and scientific tests have been done proving there is no difference, provided the wire is thick enough for the current demands.
Think about it. You probably have 24awg wire in the voice coil of the speaker, run for SEVERAL feet. Do you think 10feet of a substantially thicker 18awg cable will make any difference?

This coming from the same guy that thinks Sony's low end A/V receivers are "good" lol.
Please go spew this BS you spread over at Hometheaterspot or hometheaterforums and see what they say.
I post on hometheaterforum.com in the DIY section often. I do not post in the other sections. There is no reason to bring this up in that forum, it has been dragged on constantly. If you want to believe your expensive cable will make a difference, GO YOU. I however, have more important things to spend my money on. If you like, bring it up in the DIY section, I will be sure to respond.
Before you call my statement BS, why dont YOU explain to me why it is? Mr. cable expert, why should I spend 100 dollars a pair on speaker cable? Why infact should I use wire larger in diameter than 18awg when utilizing a 10 foot run with 8ohm speakers? I personally use 16awg, Just because it looks better than the cheaper 18awg, I could hear no difference between it and the 16awg.
Also, why don't you give me some reasons why Sony recievers are bad? Lack of features? Lack of power output? Don't try and convince me there is a difference in the amplifier "sound quality". An amplifier is simply a voltage multiplier. If two amplifiers sound different, then one is designed to introduce a phase shift, excessive THD, or boosts or cuts at certain frequencies. Or of course you could have such a poor ampliifier that it is actually audible - I have never heard of that happening.
I await your response, O king of sound.
